Welcome to my happy place.

Hi,

Welcome to my blog. Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope that you will find some inspiration for your projects as I have from many lovely people. This is just a little space for me to share some of my cards, scrap book pages and maybe even some of my embroidery and quilting projects.

Enjoy and stop back often.

What a busy July!

Wow, What a busy couple of weeks I have had getting things ready for our Women’s Retreat at church. It was a great weekend and we had lots of fun and a couple of great Guest Speakers. It was fun to get away for the weekend, not much sleep was had but that is all part of the fun of going away isn’t it.

Well I have a few things that I would like to show you. Firstly I would like to show you my gorgeous daughter who spent quite a lot of time trying to make a card house but I am very proud of her perseverance as it kept falling down. I thought it was only right to take a photo of the finished product.
I participated in my first card front swap in July and it was all about Christmas. Here are the 2 I prepared for the swap. This one I also did as part of a Challenge on SBT50 We had to use our scraps and the colours were to be red and white plus we had to have a ribbon as well. The challenge was set at the start of the July Cyber crop and we had until midnight that night to get the card posted online. It was fun. I had some red and white card left over from the precious months crop challenges so that was good and I was fortunate that the Christmas stamp I used fit on the red card stock scraps that I had. I embossed the image with white embossing powder. It was the first time I had down this kind of bow with the ribbon but I don’t think it came out too bad.

This next card I was looking for something a little different to do and I found the instructions to this card on Ros Davidson’s blog. Go and check out her blog and give the card a try as well. It was fun to make. I used some of my Stampin’ up stash for this card. I do miss the purely pomegranate colour that was an in colour last year.

Also for our Girlfriends Inc. Night at church we went out for a Christmas in July dinner. It was a great night and I made Christmas crackers for everyone with hats and jokes and a little treat. Here is a photo of the cracker on the table. I used the same stamp as I used on the red and white Christmas card. This time I embossed in white on gold wrapping paper. It came out really nice.

I also have a couple of birthday cards for you to have a look at. I made this birthday card for my daughter’s best friend who I also teach to play the cornet and so I thought a little music card would be nice.

This card is for her Father who has his birthday the day after her. I found this great tutorial on how to make a shirt so I thought I would give it a go for this male birthday card as they are hard to work out sometimes. You can find the tutorial here .

Recently I went to the lovely Claire’s and she showed me how to make this great Candle for Christmas.

After doing this great candle at Claire’s I thought it would be great to do it for our Women’s retreat for the table decorations. I also made a notebook for them so they could take notes. 40 notebooks took a long time to make but it was worth it and they were much appreciated. So here are the candles that I made for the table decorations and the notebook.

Here it is lit up for our roast dinner on the Saturday night of the retreat.

And the notebook. Everyone had their name printed on the notebook as well.

I had better let you go and do something else today rather than read all day long. If you are anything like me you have fun reading everyone’s blogs and seeing how creative they have been. So thanks for stopping by and spending a little time with me.

Take Care.

Fabulous Sgaron. Your projects for the dinner turned out gorgeous, I especially love your flower pot candle and the notebook. That card house is VERY impressive.

Claire is a gem for sharing that candle tutorial, isn't she? I adopted it too, and showed it in my Christmas in July card class - was a real 'wow' for the attendees! I love your version for your dinner, Sharon - just beautiful!
