The Heart of Christmas - Week 18

Hello and welcome to another beautiful day.
Hope you have had a wonderful week.  Well last week saw the end of our journey through the One Sheet Wonder cards it is amazing how much you can make out of 1 piece of Designer Series Paper. This week I was so inspired by the Art with Heart team blog Hop last week on fancy folds that I thought I would give a different fancy fold a go for The Heart of Christmas this week.

I found this great Dutch fancy fold card and thought yes this is the one for this week. The Night in Bethlehem stamp set and Bethlehem Edgelits Dies were just perfect for this card.

There are quite a few bits a pieces to cut out but it is not hard at all to put together and it makes for a lovely card to send to a loved one for Christmas and you can use this design/layout with any of your Christmas or holiday stamps.
Here are a few shots of the card closed and then open up the layers.

Here I have stamped Blessed Christmas wishes in Night of Navy ink and clear embossed it to give it a little more lift. I have stamped this on to Whisper White card stock then using my sponge dauber I have gone over the edges and then sponged over the front of the card to give it a night time look before I adhered the crush curry back lit Town of Bethlehem in Champagne foil to the card.
When you open the first door so to speak you still have 2 doors closed of our dutch fold but it shows off the gorgeous Year of Cheer Specialty designer Series Paper.
Then we open the last 2 doors to reveal the inside greeting where I have embossed some silver stars and the beautiful verse from the stamp set before again giving it a night time feel with night of navy on my sponge dauber. Adding just a little more of the town of Bethlehem that we had already cut out to this page. Rejoicing in Christ is part of the stamp set also as is Joseph and Mary riding on the donkey and they fit perfectly on our doors.

On the back of course adding a simple decorated piece of whisper white card so that you can write your own personal message. This stamp was inked in Night of Navy and then I clear embossed to give that extra sparkle at night.

I have made a short video tutorial showing how to put all the layers together.

Here are all the measurements that you will need to make this card Dutch fancy fold card:
Basic Grey base card 18.1x20.3 cm (7 1/8 x 8 inchs)
On the 20.3 cm side (8 inch) score at 5.1 cm (2”) and at 15.3 cm (6”)
Turn card around to 18.1 cm side (7 1/8”) Score at 6 cm (2 3/8”) all the way to the bottom
Turn the card completely around still on the 18.1 side score at 6cm down to the score line from the top and then up from the bottom to the score line. DO NOT score in the middle of the card!
Fold All Score lines
Using your paper snips cut out the 2 squares on the bottom right and bottom left  of the card when you have the full score line at the bottom towards you and the broken score line at the top away from you.
Night of Navy
Cut 2 x   11.4x9.5 cm (3 ¾”x4 ½ “)

Stampin' Up - Fancy Fold Cards Blog Hop with the Art with Heart team

Hello Lovely Friends,
Welcome to another Art with Heart Team blog hop where we are focusing on fancy folds. You will find loads of creative inspiration tonight, showcasing different folding techniques and projects. Don't be afraid of trying some Fancy Fold cards; they may look intimidating, but in fact, they are not that difficult to create.

I wanted to try and pick a fancy fold that maybe the other Art with Heart Team may not pick so I did a little bit of searching to see if I could find something that I hadn’t seen for a while around the blogging world. I found a nice simple card that anyone can try and you can make lots of these if you need to for a special project like Christmas cards or as teacher gifts. I think it is always nice to give teachers practical gifts that they can use and a set of cards that they can use throughout the year is fabulous.

Well here it is The Double Front Fancy Fold Card. It is very simple to make and I have used the gorgeous Tranquil Tulip stamp set paired with Special Celebrations to make this stunning card. My Grandma loved the dark black tulips and this reminds me of her.

I know you can't tell by this photos, you are saying she has gone mad it just looks like an ordinary card so here are all the different photos of the card so you can see the different fold.

This is a great card design to be able to write a lovely message to your friends as it gives you plenty of space to write.

I have made a video giving step by step instructions on how to make this card

The Measurements/dimensions of the cards are as follows
Base Elegant Eggplant 15x14.8 cm
score at 10.5 cm
Inner Whisper White Card 19x13.5 cm
score at 9.5 cm
Cut 2 x Whisper white 7x11 cm
Cut 2 x Old Olive 7.5x11.5 cm
The trick is to make sure you line up the Tulip card with the sentiment card before you adhere it to the front of the Elegant eggplant card.

The Heart of Christmas - Week 17

Hello and welcome to another beautiful day.

Hope you have had a wonderful week. I was unable to participate in the Heart of Christmas last week as it was my daughter’s 16th birthday so I was busy making a birthday cake and cupcakes for various things for my daughter.

Then I had 20 ladies coming to my house the following day for a progressive dinner. So it was a busy cooking week for me, but a great week. What was your week like?

Well I know you will be surprised but we have come to the end of our One Sheet Wonder! I know – what ever are we going to do now!
Well here we are this is the last card.

I have used the stamp sets Sheet Music and Musical Season along with the last 2 pieces of Be Merry DSP.  Accompanied with the gorgeous Foil Snowflakes and adding a little more bling with the Black Rhinestone Jewels.

This card was very simple and quick to make with stamping the Sheet Music in Smoky Slate onto Whisper white card stock and layering that onto Basic Black card stock before adhering to your Cherry Cobbler card base. I have stamped the Sentiment in Cherry Cobbler ink on Whisper White card stock and then used the clear embossing powder and set it with my heat tool before double layering with Cherry Cobbler and Basic Black card stock. Then taking your 2 remaining pieces of Be Merry DSP and backing them with Basic Black card stock. Adhere down the gorgeous Silver Foil Snowflake with a tiny bit of fast fuse in the centre of your card vertically and then to the left hand side of the sheet music. Now for our Be Merry DSP pieces, place the short one horizontally across the middle of the page and the long thin one adhere that over the top of the other piece straight down the right hand side, kind of like in a T. Now pop up your sentiment on dimensionals add your Black rhinestone Jewels and there you have it our last One Sheet wonder is complete.

But don’t forget the inside of your cards stamp the gorgeous harp from Musical Seasons in smoky slate then the greeting in cherry cobbler.

Well let's look at all 12 of our cards that we have made with our One Sheet of Be Merry DSP and what we started with.

A great range a Christmas cards and a great example of what you can do with One 12x12 Sheet of Designer Series Paper.

The Heart of Christmas - Week 15

Hello and welcome to another beautiful day.

Hope you have had a wonderful week if you are in the northern hemisphere you are having the last days of Summer and kids are starting to go back to school. Here in Australia it is spring but the weather at least where I live in Melbourne is still in winter mode.

This week I haven’t been very well with a migraine that has had me in bed every day so I am glad that I still had some pieces left from our One Sheet Wonder.  So this card is super simple and although this has a Christmas greeting you could make this same design for any kind of card you want, plus you can make multiples of it without any problem at all for your Christmas list.

I have used the 3 pieces that we originally cut and the 2 pieces that we cut as off cuts from our cards that we have made in week 13.

I have backed them with the gorgeous copper foil and popped then on the diagonal on some very vanilla card on top of a cherry cobbler card base. I nearly used one of our many shades of green but I came back to the very clean look of the very vanilla. The greeting is from the Merry Mistletoe stamp set and I have clear embossed this before using the stitched shape framelits to cut it out.  I have layered the greeting with cherry cobbler and copper foil using the layering oval framelits to cut these out before popping it up on dimensional after putting down some swirls of copper metallic thread. To finish of the card the new black rhinestone jewels adorn the corners.

As always Stampin’ Up makes it so simple to decorate the inside of your cards with just a little bit of interest. Merry Mistletoe stamps set has a lovely saying  and little decorations you can use on the inside of your cards. You don’t need to do much at all. I have again clear embossed as it is Christmas but you don’t need to do that at all.
