Night of Navy is a gorgeous colour and this week’s colour creations challenge.
Tonight, I have made a card and a little chocolate gift
purse. I need to make an invitation for my first church Girlfriend’s night back
that I run once a month. We are having a fundraising dinner to raise money to
empower, educate and help fund start up businesses for women in Africa. We will
be doing little fundraisers throughout the year. We meet on the 2nd
Thursday of the month and for February it will be Valentines day so a love
dinner will be a great way to start!
For my card I have used the Butterfly Gala stamp set which
is in the new Occasions catalogue. I just love Butterflies and I the sentiment
I think is just great for an invitation. Who wouldn’t feel welcome when they
see this sentiment… “The food things in life are better with you” Then I will
put the invitation on the inside of the card.
So what did I use to decorate the card front. I first put
the Night of Navy card stock through the big shot with the Subtle TIEF just to
give the card base a little bit of texture. The blue butterflies are part of the Botanical
Butterfly Designer series paper that is found in the Sale- A bration catalogue
and I have used the dark and light Night of Navy Blends to colour them in. You
can get this gorgeous paper for free when you spend $90 on product. I think I
might have to spend some more to get another lot.
I stamped the sentiment on whisper white card stock in Night
of navy ink and cut it out with the stitched shape framelits and popped it up
on some dimensionals over the burlap ribbon. The little butterfly is stamped in
memento and then I have used so saffron, and powder pink for the colours. With
the stamp set it is so easy to colour your butterflies as they give you the
solid stamps to do so if you would like. Plus, a little bling and your card is
done! Of course, you can colour your butterflies any complimentary colour you
like.
For our little chocolate treat bags, I found the design on
Dawn Stamping thoughts and she used a 6x6 inch piece of designer series paper. I
have used the Garden Impressions DSP which has Night of Navy as one of its
colours and they are already in 6x6. A little bit of folding, a couple of
pieces of night of navy card stock and it is so cute. I cut out the clasp to my
bag with the pretty label punch and used the Needlepoint elements framelits
dies to get the beautiful stitched edge.
It fits perfectly inside the punch.
I attached the clasp to the back of the bag with tear and
tap and then to hold everything in place I used little Velcro dots. I put the
chocolates in first to make sure I had the correct position before closing the
clasp down and adhering it all in place.
The ribbon is so much fun and it is part of the Classic Garage
suite in the Occasions Catalogue and could possibly be classed as a male oriented
suite but I just love the black and silver striped ribbon for all things and my
daughter would love this as she isn’t a very pink and girly girl, so these colours
would be perfect for her!
As I am actually doing the little bags for ladies other than
my daughter, I thought I had better put a pink butterfly on the front of the
clasp so you would know which side you needed to open to get to your chocolates. You can put what ever chocolates you like in these, I have put in some favourites but 2 ferero rochers fit in them as well
To cut out the butterflies in both projects I have used the
new butterfly duet punch found in the new Occasions catalogue!
As always if you would like any details on how to make these
items or would like to get your hands on the products and the new Occasions and
Sale-a-bration catalogues don’t hesitate to contact me.
Please head over now to the lovely Cathy Proctors Blog to
