Heart of Christmas - September 2020

I can't believe we are in September and Christmas is not that far away but my daughter just had her 19th birthday so we are definitely on the countdown now to Christmas. The Art With Heart team are back for our monthly Heart of Christmas Showcase to bring you some inspiration for your to help in your Christmas card making and decorations.

Christmas has always been my favourite time of the year and I just love all the Christmas stamps and papers from Stampin' Up! and I have a hard time not buying them all.

Today for you I have made a couple of cards for you one that is quick and that you can reproduce to make lots of for your Christmas card this year and one that is a little bit more involved but I couldn't resist.

Here is my colour combination for the first card, a traditional colour combination this week.
Real Red, Garden Green, Soft Suede, Whisper white, Gold Foil, Rhapsody in Craft
For my first card I have used a Christmas sentiment stamp set on Page 35 of the August-Dec Mini "For Unto US" I love all the great fonts in this stamp set.

This card is quick and simple to make and you can do many of them in one sitting as Stampin' Up has such wonderful Designer Series Paper this year and all years for Christmas.

I have used a card base of Soft Suede card stock and cut the DSP at 10 x 14.5 cm ( 3 15/16 x 5 11/16 inches) for the first layer the Red layer is 5 x 12.7 cm ( 2 x 5 inches) and the Green Layer is 3.8 x 10.8 cm ( 1.5 x 1 1/4 inches). (I always go back and forth between centimetres and inches when I make things so I have given you both. Now this gorgeous DSP is the Wonder of the Season Specialty on the first layer and then the Heartwarming Hugs DSP for the red layer and the green layer is Poinsettia Place DSP. So you can see if you have a few smaller pieces of DSP around you can quickly put together a card.

I have stamped the sentiment in Real Red and cut it out with a stitched shaped die and place a little bit of ribbon from All the trimmings ribbon combo Pack.  In no time at all you would have all your Christmas cards made with this simple layout.

I was having so much fun with these colours and with the Soft Suede as the base I thought I would make another card that was a little bit more involved and this time just use my dies to create the card.

Yes I am one of those people when it comes to Christmas as I said earlier I have to have almost all of it. I don't yet but it is only September there is still time! 😂

For this card I have used the same DSP Wonder of the Season Specialty with the gold foil through it! Simply Gorgeous! I have split it in the middle and folded it back so I could add the word "JOY" Which I actually cut out with the Playful Alphabet Dies in Brass foil after adhering to the adhesive sheets so I didn't have to worry about putting glue on the back of them.

Before adhering the gorgeous DSP to the card base I also added a strip of Brass Foil and a little bit of Scalloped Lace Trim.

Now for the star of the show if the Wonder of the Season Specialty DSP was not enough.

Did you know that you can emboss your poinsettia petals and cut them out at the same time. So easy to make and really quick too! This Card was fast to make! Stampin' Up! has everything you need for quick cards. One pass through the Cut & Emboss machine with all the petals and I was done ready to go so quick.

  1. Lovely cards, Sharon. I really like how the bright rectangles of paper pop against the text background on your first card. The die-cut "JOY" peeking through on your second card is just fab ... a lovely, elegant card.

  8. Great cards Sharon, but I am particularly drawn to your first one. I wouldn't think to put some many different DSP designs together on one card, but it simply works... perfectly!

  9. I love how well the DSP from three different packs work so well together on your first card my friend - it's simply lovely. And I love the gorgeous font of the sentiment stamped in our beautiful Real Red - it looks stunning! Your beautiful poinsettia just POPS off the gorgeous white and gold DSP, and I am totally in love with the brass foil - it looks fantastic against the Soft Suede card stock.
