Each week some of the Art with Heart Team will be participating in a Blog Hop all about colour. We will be bringing to you creations highlighting one of the Stampin' Up! colours each week and with 50 colours plus the 10 In Colors there is so much inspiration to look forward to.
Last week we looked at the 5 New In Colors for 2021-23 this week we are looking at Balmy Blue and we will continue in alphabetical order.
Well I couldn't help myself I had to do a fancy fold! A Double Tri-Fold Pop Up Card. Well that sounds like a mouth full but it is so easy!
I hadn't seen one of these before and I came across it on Dawn Stampin' Thoughts and thought I would give it a try. It is one piece of Thick Basic White card base that you score first and then cut to get your sentiment trifold section off the card base. Hence the Double Tri-fold part of your card.
Ok so the fancy fold has nothing to do with Balmy Blue so where does this Balmy blue come from? Glad you asked. The Gorgeous DSP is the new "You're A Peach" I have used both on the base of the card and the layering on the sentiment section of the card.
For the sentiments on the card I have used the stamp set Simply Succulents. I really love the sentiments and greetings from this set, ok the whole set but I digress. I wanted the first sentiment to fit into the square that I had created but as you can tell from this picture of the stamp set it doesn't quite come the way I have it stamped.
I got out my Basic Black Stampin' Write marker and used the brush end and just inked up the words that I wanted and stamped them, cleaned off the stamp inked up the next word, lined up my stamp and continued on like that until my sentiment was stamped the way I wanted. Just because a stamp is set in a particular way doesn't mean you can't make it work the way you want it to. I love how we can use all the different products that Stampin' Up have as they match an coordinate so well. If I wanted to use the Balmy Blue Stampin' Write Marker that would have fitted in with the DSP that I had used as well.
I happened to be playing with the Quiet Meadow stamp set just before making this card and thought the flower from this stamp set would look lovely on this card so I stamped it in Smokey Slate and coloured it in Pale Papaya and Soft Succulent Stampin' blends did a little fussy cutting and adhere to the front of the card after adhering the sentiment section. Of course with a little bit of bling to finish off.
Just so you know this card fits perfectly into our envelopes and the trick to making sure your get it to fit is to lay your card down closed on your envelope before you adhere the sentiment trifold panel. You can then move it in or out as far as you need to and just add enough adhesive under that front section as you need. Then turn it over and do the same to adhere the back section.
It was fun trying out a new fancy fold to try and I will be putting this one in my bag of fancy fold tricks that is for sure!
