The Heart of Christmas - Week 14

Hello and welcome to another beautiful day.

How has your week been? Here in Australia it is starting to look like spring is just around the corner even though the temperature isn’t quite there yet. I am loving all the blossoms coming out especially the magnolias on the trees. The white and pale pink ones are starting to come out around my neighbourhood but I can’t wait for the dark purples to show, they are my favourite. How about you?

Well today is Week 14 of the Heart of Christmas and week 7 of our One Sheet Wonder.
We are nearing the end we don’t have many pieces left.  Can you believe how many different cards we have made over the last 7 weeks?

We have the original pieces and a couple extra that we have made along the way when we have cut piece up to fit the designs for that week.

I am using the 2 largest pieces left the 3” x 2 ½” and the 3”x4” but I have cut down the big piece so they are now both the same size. Next week I think I will need to get very creative with what we have left.

I have used my favourite copper foil paper and combined it with the gorgeous copper trim. But I have teased the trim just a little bit to make it look like a netting.

I have also added the gorgeous foil snowflake in silver that is available to everyone in just a couple of day’s time on September 1st, from the new Holiday Catalogue.

By adding some clear embossed trees from the Merry Mistletoe stamp set and the cute little deer that you can cut out using the Card Front Builder framelits you can make this card extremely quickly and make multiples for your Christmas card list.  Add a little bling with the Metallic Enamel shapes.

Add the sentiment clear embossed once stamped in Cherry cobbler from the Nature sings stamp set and cut it out with the Stitched shaped framelits and layered with Cherry Cobbler card stock using the layering oval framelits. I have popped the sentiment and the trees and deer up on dimensionals and mini dimensionals.

Don't forget to decorate the inside of your card just something simple brings your card up to the next level. I have clear embossed the sentiment as well as the little decoration as it is a Christmas card and the inside should glisten just a little bit.

Stampin' Up - New Holiday Catalogue - Art With Heart Blog Hop

Hello Lovely Friends,
Tonight some of the Art with Heart Stampin’ Up! team girls are sharing some fun and fabulous ideas to inspire you from our brand new Holiday Catalogue available on 1st September until 2nd January 2018. Be sure to request your copy of the catalogue today!

Do you remember the Christmas carol The Little Drummer Boy? Well when I saw this new bundle I just had to get it!

I sang this carol as a solo in my grade 2 Christmas pageant 40 years ago shh!  Well Musical Seasons and Musical Instrument Framelit Die bundle brought back all the happy memories! I’m sure I was nervous but maybe that was what helped steer me on the path of becoming a music teacher!

For my first card today I have used the gorgeous Merry Music Specialty DSP and I have cleared embossed the Little Drummer Boy and then using my sponge dauber with night of navy ink I have given him a little shadow. I have gone over the embossing using the emboss resist technique. Making sure to wipe the residual ink off the embossed drummer boy with a tissue. Subsequently I used my sponge dauber to add some night of navy to the edges of the paper and without adding any more ink to the sponge I have lightly gone over the rest of the music paper just to give it a little hint of blue.

I had to put the words on the cards as well so I have stamped them using the Labeler Alphabet in memento and popped them up using the mini dimensionals.

How gorgeous is the Vintage Crochet trim that I have attached to the edges of this card? You are going to love it, it is so soft and just beautiful, you will want to put it on all your projects!

The middle of the card is always lovely to decorate and this stamp set comes with a beautiful verse for Christmas.

My second card I think will be perfect for my friend in Minnesota. She plays the French horn and as Christmas time is also in the winter there as opposed to summer here in Australia, this card is for her.

This bundle comes with lovely framelits that you can use to cut out your stamped images and also a French horn and treble clef which I have done here in the new Champagne Foil paper. Oh, I am in love! Move over Copper foil! It is gorgeous! I have accompanied it with the new Foil Snowflakes that come in silver and gold. This one is the silver snowflake that I have cut in half. I have adhered them with the fine tip glue pen to the beautiful Merry Music Paper, this time I have used the black background image.

Peace, Joy and love have been clear embossed on smoky slate card stock when stamped with Cherry Cobbler ink and popped up on some dimensionals.

I have stamped the inside once more with the lovely verse that comes with this stamp set Musical Seasons and added a touch of the Merry Music Speciality DSP.

The Heart of Christmas - Week 13

Hello and welcome to another beautiful day.

Week 13 of the Heart of Christmas, how are you going playing along with the team? There have been so many fun creations for all of us to see, a visual feast that is for sure!

Today I am continuing with our One Sheet Wonder, yes I know we still have pieces left. It is amazing how many cards you can get out of 1 sheet of 12x12 DSP!  But today I also wanted to do a fancy fold so I did a little bit of surfing the net to see what would catch my eye and what would work with our pieces of Be Merry DSP that we have left.
Well today I am totally CASING Dawns Stamping thoughts cards (with a little bit of modification) that she made after getting a swap when she was on the big Stampin’ Up trip in Thailand. The lady who made this design, Laura Barto calls it the Two Way Fun Fold.

I have done it 2 ways so that you could see it in both sides of our DSP.  I am featuring the Carols of Christmas Bundle that you can order right now as an early release before the new Holiday catalogue is available September 1.

In the first card I have used our 3” x 5 ½”, 4”x ¾”  and the 3 ¼ “x 1 ¼ “ pieces of DSP. I will give detailed instructions at the end of the post of how to make the cards.

Here it closed!

Now for the fun part how does it open! Open the greeting (which is clear embossed after being stamped in Garden green) with the arm!

Then open the middle of the card for the 2nd way of opening and to reveal the decoration on the inside of your card!

The Christmas Wishes is from the stamps set Merry Mistletoe!
How fun is this card?

You can also see when you look at the card from the side that I have placed the single tree on 2 dimensionals for a little more height and the cute deer just on 1 mini dimensional.

I thought for the second card I would step it up just a little bit and add some bling! I can’t get away from copper so I have used some copper foil paper and Rhinestones. I have also clear embossed all the images that I have stamped in cherry cobbler! Let’s Deck the Halls!

For this card I have used our Be Merry DSP pieces in 5 ¼ “ x 2 ½ “, 4” x ¾ “ and 4” x 1 ¼ “ . All I did a bit different was to cut the  5 1/4" piece in half length ways and cut the base card to fit the length of the DSP piece. Check out the instructions at the end of the post.

For more product information for both cards check out the list below.

Here are the instructions for making the cards.

·     Cut your base card stock garden green or cherry cobbler 4 ½” x 5 ½” (I cut the base to the length of the DSP piece that we had from our One sheet wonder)

·     Cut your DSP (or copper) 3” x 5 ½”

·     Cut the arm in cardstock either garden green or cherry cobbler 1” x 5 ½ “ score at 4 ¼ “
·     Cut a piece of Whisper white card stock 2 ½ “ x 11”, Score at 5 ½ “ (This will make sure it fits with the Peace on Earth card)
·     Put the arm on the base first so that your DSP (or copper foil) covers the arm.
·     Adhere the DSP to the centre of the base card with the arm open.

·     Place the Whisper white card on your base but don’t stick down and put the arm over the top. Use a pencil to mark where the arm is on the white card.

·     Using your piece of 1” wide strip of DSP (I cut down our 1 ¼” wide strip) adhere this to the front of the whisper white card stock inside the pencil marks, trim off the extra length.

·     Take the ¾ “ wide strip and flag  one end
·     Flag the end of the arm
·     Adhere the strip to the arm and trim any of  the excess.

·     Stamp your greeting on Whisper White card stock and clear emboss. I like to cut it out after I have stamped it in case I stamp it a little crooked then layer it on the card stock or copper foil that matches the card. ( Do all this first before you adhere your trees for your Peace on Earth card.)

·     Now it is time to die cut the trees and deer or to stamp the images of baubles onto the white card stock and to clear emboss them.
·     Remember when you place the single tree to do a double dimensional layer and then a mini dimensional for the deer. (When you are doing your Peace on Earth card, place your whisper white card on the base, place you greeting on the arm just so you know that you are not covering the trees and you know make sure where to place your trees)
·     Add the rhinestones to the baubles
·     Stamp Christmas Wishes and decorate the inside of your card.
·     You can now adhere your Whisper White card to the base card.
·     Place a few dimensionals to the end of the arm to pop up your greeting and attach your greeting.

·     Now your Two Way Fun Fold card is complete!
