Well today we are looking at my favourite colour! Well ok one of my favourites! No ok my favourite! Anything Blackberry Bliss and I am there Girlfriend! I remember as a little girl going blackberry picking along the riverbank, fresh blackberries and ice cream and homemade blackberry jam and all those wonderful childhood memories! Oh I digress. Plus you are going to want to make sure you get the new Mini Coming Soon! Blackberry Bliss DSP to die for!!!! You are going to love it! I can't wait!
Back to the matter at hand our colour today Blackberry Bliss and I have made 2 cards for you both using the Simply Succulents Stamp set and Potted Succulents Dies.
My first card is a 3D Stage Card fancy fold! I had never made one and I know I had to make something special because it was Blackberry Bliss week. Now I had a bit of a dilemma on how to photograph it so I have a few from all different angles so you get the whole idea.
So for the base of my card I have used Blackberry Bliss card stock and paired it with the Pansy Petals DSP as it has Blackberry Bliss as one of the Colours in that DSP. Well you can see that I haven't used a pattern that has blackberry bliss in it but I know that the paper designs I have used go with Blackberry Bliss because Stampin' Up! have already done all the colour combination matching for me in the DSP. They tell us what colours are in the DSP on the back of the packet and in the catalogues. How cool is that!!
Ok so once I had chosen my papers and worked on the fold of the card. You can find the directions to make this type of card on YouTube. It was time to decorate. For that front top layer of my card I cut the design with the Ornate Layer dies to make it a little bit more decorative but you could also do it a bit more traditional and use your stitched rectangle dies.
As you can see I have the front, middle and back of stage so I needed to have 3 lots of decorations. I have stamped the succulents in basic gray and then used the Stampin' Blends to colour them in. I tried a few different combinations for this one to vary the colour of the succulents. We are very fond of succulents at our house and I have taken the colour inspiration from the ones we have in our garden.
On the very back of the stage the backdrop is the large die of succulents cut out in blackberry bliss. Now for the colouring of the Succulents. For the tall one sticking up at the back it is a combinations of light So Saffron, light Smokey Slate and Light Soft Sea Foam. The green and yellow tipped one is Dark Daffodil Delight and light Just Jade. The bright orangey pink one is Light Polished Pink and light and Dark Pale Papaya and a hint of soft sea foam. The hanging down succulent is both light and dark Soft Succulent just to make it easy. The one peeking in from the left here with the pink tips is Light Fresh Freesia and Light Mint Macaron, Now I could not go without having a Blackberry Bliss one and of course that is both light and Dark Blackberry bliss but under the dark, you might be able to see dark old olive. I really played around with the colours to try and get some depth and difference in the succulents.
Oh I almost forgot the pots. I coloured them with Bronze, Ivory, Dark Crumb Cake, and Light Soft Suede. To finish off the pots I have die cut out some extra succulent leaves and plants with the potted succulent dies in crumb cake and soft succulent card. The stage doors fold closed nicely so that you can put your card into an envelope to give to a friend who loves plants to let them know that you have been thinking of them. The sentiment is white heat embossed onto Blackberry Bliss card and cut out with one of the dies from the Potted Succulents Die set. It was a fun card to make and I just love sitting and colouring with my stampin' blends and it is a fun thing to do when watching your favourite Aussies Tennis Stars play at Wimbledon.
Now for my second card it is a little less involved but I love it!
I have again used the Simply Succulents stamp set and used the big succulents stamp but this time I have heat embossed it in white emboss powder onto Soft Succulent card.
I hope you have enjoyed my 2 cards today. They were so fun to make. Nothing like a bit of colouring to relax you.
