Week 31 is all about Old Olive and when I thought about this colour I thought Simply Succulents from the new Jan-Jun Mini! I just had to have this bundle when I saw it in the new Mini Catalogue as my Daughter has created quite a garden of different succulents in our back yard. We love to look at succulents when we are out and about when we pass them and at different garden places. Today I have made 2 cards for you using 2 different colour methods.
I just couldn't resist this stamp set and bundle, there are so many dies and you get to cut and colour so many things and there are label dies as well. It is just fabulous!
For my first card I thought I would use the large die and cut out a panel of the succulents in Old Olive card stock
Under this gorgeous layer of die cut succulents is the equally beautiful Hydrangea Hill Designer Series Paper. Oh I think I will be using so much of this gorgeous Designer series paper all of the designs are just wonderful.
For this card I used the Stampin' Blends to colour the pot and the different succulents. I love colouring with the blends they are so lovely to work with and I have used Old Olive light and Dark, Light Highland Heather and Cinnamon Cider Light and Dark.
Here is a little closer look and as you can see when I adhered them to the card front I popped the light ones on dimensionals. The darker succulents are coloured with both the light and dark old olive blends and then tipped with the Highland Heather.
The little pearl succulents were cut out of old olive card stock, I love this die as I love this succulent in real life. The Thanks sentiment is stamped in Old Olive and then the 3 label dies are also in the set of dies in the Potted Succulent Dies. I always like a little bling and the gold foil is perfect for this.
My Second Card today I used the larger Succulent stamp.
This is such a fun stamp and I just love it and you can just sit and colour to your hearts content. I have always loved colouring and I won a second prize in a colour competition when I was 10 and got a book about birds and it was the first time I found out about Spoon Bill birds so every time we go to Healesville Sanctuary we have to visit them. We went last week and it was so good!
So for this card I used the blender pen to colour the Succulents and I coloured 2 pots when I was making the first card with the Stampin' Blends.
I used Old Olive on all of the succulents except the top left green one and that is a Pear Pizzazz succulent. The bottom one is first in Old Olive then Mossy Meadow over top. The middle 2 are Old Olive with Highland Heather tips. The top Succulent is Merry Merlot, Rich Razzleberry and then Old Olive.
I have layered the arrangement of succulents on a piece of Whisper White card stock that has been Embossed with the Subtle 3D embossing folder after cutting it out with one of the dies and then I have used the Ornate Layers Dies for the frame in Gold Foil and cut out the centre to frame the arrangement. The sentiment is stamped in in Old Olive and cut out with a label die from the Potted Succulents Dies. Everything is on a card base of Old Olive.
Now my cards decided they wanted a photo shoot with some of the succulents in my garden so at the end of this post I will have some succulent and card shots. I don't know how they managed to get me outside today it was soooooo hot but they insisted. If you want to skip the photo shoot please head over to the blog of the our host of the weekly Colour Creation Showcase Cathy Proctor to see the fun and inspiring work not only from Cathy but from the whole Art with Heart team playing along this week with Old Olive: Cathy's Blog
