Week 48 can you believe it?! I know this is so much fun each week bring you a different colour from the wonderful range that Stampin' Up! has to offer and seeing all the different inspiration that each demonstrator that participates each week brings. So many wonderful ideas. I hope that you are hopping along with us each week and making some of these wonderful cards and projects yourself.
Well this week we have one of the colours in our Subtles range - " So Saffron" A beautiful soft yellow.
My daughter asked me to make a birthday card for her speech pathologist for tomorrow so the first thing I thought of was the dies from the Fine Art Floral Suite in the Jan-June Mini Catalogue on pages 32 -34. The words from the Floral Gallery Dies, "Just want to say" are just perfect I thought for a Speechie but you might think that is a bit punny! Anyway my daughter did ask for something with words on it so I have met the brief I think!
So what did I do!
Well the cards and projects in the catalogue are there for inspiration and I quite liked the design on page 34 and going on the brief I was given by my daughter I thought yes I can CASE this card and make it something for her Speechie. The middle layer of the card I have stamped the words (my daughter wanted words) from the Stamp set Art Gallery onto a piece of Petal Pink card stock in Poppy Parade ink and cut that down to fit the words "Just want to Say" and the flower perfectly, with the little diagonal on each corner.
Now for the background I have used the So Saffron ink and my blending brush, I love these blending brushes. I have created an Ombre effect on some Basic White card and then put it through the Cut & Emboss machine with the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder
Well of Course I had to have a lovely flower so I just had to use the Gilded leafing embellishment. I first stamped in So Saffron then the part where the gilded gold leaf is I stamped that in versMark and used the Heat & Stick Powder then the heat tool to activate the heat and stick powder and then the fun with the gilded leafing. It looks so good! Who doesn't need a bit of bling in their life! Plus lots of GILDED LEAF!
To put this card all together I went nuts with the stampin' dimensionals between the layers of the card based and the Ombre layer. I wrapped the gorgeous gold flecked Fine Art ribbon around it first. The Petal Pink Layer that is stamped with the Best Wishes and Happy Birthday in Poppy Parade is also Popped up on dimensionals. Then I have used stampin' seal for the flower and the Happy Birthday. Now the Happy Birthday I have used the Die from the Floral Gallery Dies to cut that out twice once in So Saffron and then in the Basic White after stamping and I have trimmed off the frilly bits so that it would fit. ( I always think of Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy when they talk about who designed Norway with all the frilly bits, LOL!) Ok Back to the card. So Now don't be a nincompoop like me and forget to put your So Saffron Card on the adhesive sheets first before putting it through the Cut and Emboss machine. However I used Multipurpose glue and a tip here is to let it dry a little bit and get tacky so that it doesn't seep out and you are good to go. Of Course I had to add a little bit more bling with the Basic Rhinestones.

Great card Sharon, I love how you've used the Happy Birthday to make a background paper for your card
Sharon you have totally nailed this brief! I love your background DSP and I'm sure your daughter's "speechie" really appreciated the effort you've put into this wonderful card. I had a little giggle about the forgetting to use the adhesive sheets as I have done this so many times too!
That's a very cool middle layer. It really looks like DSP. Love how your card turned out and I'm sure the Speech Therapist was (or will be) very touched.
I love the ombre background, Sharon ... and Poppy Parade looks great with So Saffron (who knew?!)! Great personalised card. x
Sharon love the different layers on this card, especially the ombré embossed layer. I think the speechie will love the pun!
LOL! It's a perfect card for a speechie! It's all so fabulous!
What a great card for a Speechie! The background stamped words looks like DSP and I thought I had missed it in the catalogue - too clever!
What’s not to love about this card! Great repeat stamping of the sentiment, love the colour combination and that gold leaf flower - wow!
