Colour Creations Blog Hop - Week 11 - Cajun Craze

Welcome to week 11 of the Colour Creations Blog Hop, this week we are looking at the colour Cajun Craze. Each time we look at this colour it is not the favourite of the colours but everyone comes up with such fantastic projects so I am really looking forward to this week to see all the inspiration around this colour which is a real challenge at times!

So for my project tonight I thought I would play around with a technique called faux copper patina for the background.

To start I stamped the leaf from the Splendid Thoughts stamp set in Cajun craze on Cajun craze card.

Then I used an old toothbrush to brush over some versamark ink refill then added some white and then clear emboss powder!

After heat embossing I used soft suede ink on my finger and smudged over the places that had no embossing or stamped imaged and then all over the edge of the card.

After finishing the background I layered it on a card base of Cajun Craze and a layer of copper foil. The Splendid Stem dies are perfect for this card so that you can still see the background. I have used, old olive, cajun craze, merry merlot, so safron and soft sea foam for the foliage. The basket is also from the Splendid Stem dies and I have cut that out in crumb cake and embossed it in the Timeworn Type 3D embossing folder and a little bakers twine bow to finish off. The sentiment is stamped in Cajun Craze on soft sea foam.

If you have any questions about today's project or would like to get your hands on some of the product and have a play yourself do not hesitate to contact me.

You've created a unique, dramatic, background Sharon! I haven't seen this technique before. You're right - those lovely open foliage dies work perfectly, to show off the background piece. Great Cajun Craze creation!

Sharon I love how the patina looks on the Cajun Craze mat and the display of the delicate die cut stems. You must have had fun getting your fingers all inky with this technique!

Your faux patina card is amazing, Sharon. I have never mastered this technique but you have nailed it. I bet your inky fingers needed a good wash afterwards, and please make sure that toothbrush doesn't go to the bathroom!!!
