Colour Creations Blog Hop - Week 3 - 2022-23 - Starry Sky

For week 3 we are looking at the new In Color Starry Sky. It is a lovely blue.

I think it will get used quite a lot in the next 2 years with Night of Navy and Pacific point as it's companions. I say this as I have chosen to use the colour palette of the Sun Prints Designer Series Paper for my card tonight. It can be found on page 90-91 and 134 of the New 2022-23 Annual Catalogue.

I then wanted to work out what green would go with Starry Sky and again Stampin' Up! has done all the work for me with the colour chart.

Now all I had to do was stamp.

I needed to do a male birthday card and when I saw these gorgeous papers I thought this was the one out of it that would work. It was kind of paint splattered so I then thought I would take out the Painted Texture 3D embossing folder and put the DSP through the Cut & Emboss machine and it come out great.

Even though the pallet of the DSP says Gray Granite I picked up Sahara Sand to use and I like it as well with these colours so that was a happy accident. How good does the Old Olive and Starry Sky look stamped on Sahara Sand! The DSP looks fabulous embossed in the Painted Texture makes it really look like paint!

I told my daughter I was doing a male birthday card and she said she liked it so it could be an anyone birthday card. Now those leaves I stamped them from the Sending Smiles stamp set and used the Sending Dies to cut them out. I Stamped the Happy Birthday from the Peaceful Moments in Starry Sky ink and cut it out with the layering circle dies and a layer of Starry Sky scalloped circle behind it. To add a little bling because guys can have bling too I added the Matt In Color decorative dots and the In Color Metallic Woven Ribbon both in Starry Sky. All of this is layered on a base of Starry Sky Card Base.

Wow, the texture in the card looks fantastic. I love the burst of colour from the leaf sprays. It's so effective!

Sharon I love all the texture on your card. I always forget that DSP can be embossed. I tend to only emboss cardstock. Thanks for the reminder.

Sharon I love the texture and I love the original way you have used the leaf sprays - it's so eye catching and simply fabulous!

The background looks awesome, Sharon - paint splatters for sure! I laughed when you said you meant to use Gray Granite, but chose Sahara Sand. I added a Sahara Sand element to my card, when I thought I'd pulled out Gray Granite card. It looks good with Starry Sky, doesn't it?!

The texture on your DSP looks amazing! It looks like you have done a lot more to it than just embossed it.

I love the ‘happy accident’ colour palette you went with on this card! At first I thought the dsp already had texture, it looks like it is supposed to look like that! It looks amazing run through that embossing folder. I just love the layers on this card, gorgeous!

I agree with Sarah your card could be used for anyone. Snap on pairing Starry Sky with Sahara Sand. They go well together as does the Old Olive. Lovely card Sharon.

A very clever way to use those leaves around the sentiment to create your masculine card, Sharon. Sahara Sand card looks fantastic when stamped on and the embossed DSP is perfect!

Great idea to emboss the DSP, the texture looks so good behind the leaves.

Fabulous idea to emboss and add texture to the painted DSP Sharon. I love the use of Sahara Sand in your card particularly stamped with Starry Sky ink.
