Have a Holly Jolly Christmas

Hello again, another week has passed and it was a hugely emotional one for me. We had 2 deaths in the family this past couple of weeks so I am going to make this a short post.

Today’s card is using Sunshine’s Stamps Holly Jolly Snow Ball Fight image and her sentiment Have a Holly Jolly Christmas. The Holly are just so cute. I was also given the added challenge of using paper piercing. I am not a big user of it as I’m not that good at keeping everything straight. I might have to get a guide to help me. Anyway I did use paper piercing around the edge of the image as well as one other place, see if you can pick it. (It isn’t that hard so I’m sure you will find it very easily)

I have based the card around a sketch at sweet sketch Wednesday. Not exactly the same but pretty close.

Here is the card.

Here is the sketch:

I have used all Stampin Up’ Product except for Sunshine’s Stamps of course and the pearls. Hope you like it.

Well Guess what I have just re-read Sunshine’s e-mail and the challenge wasn’t paper piercing it was paper piecing. Well Don’t I feel foolish LOL! Well as I had already finished the card I have been a bit sneaky and printed out the image again and I have layered the scarves on the holly. I have left them unattached at the bottom of the scarves so that it looks like they are blowing in the wind. I actually like the added scarves better than the original. Here is what it looks like now.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day.

Silent Night - Christmas Card

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for stopping by to see what I have been up to. Well Just a quick post for you this week. I have for you another Card made with Sunshine’s images. I have used Sunshine’s Silent Night Sentiment and also her poinsettia image for this card. Sunshine asked us to chose a sentiment and then she sent us the image that she had created for that sentiment so that is why I have a poinsettia as well. I love Poinsettias which we had not come across before we lived in the U.S. but on returning to Australia they are more prevalent here. I have also used Crazy 4 Challenges Sketch for the design of the card.

Here is the card:

This is the Sketch from Crazy 4 Challenges

The Recipe for this card:

Stamps: Sunshine’s Stamps Silent Night and Poinsettia digital images
Card stock: Green base card unknown. (Yes I have heaps and heaps of it)
Stampin Up’s Riding Hood Red, Very Vanilla and DSP Christmas (2008)
Ink: Stampin’Up: Riding Hood Red, Real Read, Rose Red, Handsome Hunter, Always Artichoke
Other: Fiskars Filigree texture plate, Ribbon not sure of the name but it is very pretty.
Tools: personal trimmer, double sided tape, dimensionals, bone folder, sponge dauber.
I Popped up the sentiment using dimensionals and cut out the poinsettia and popped it up on it's own.

Sorry that this is such a quick post but I know that this time of year we are all getting a bit busy with school, work and Christmas events. So Enjoy your week and I will see you again next Monday. Don't forget to have a look at the rest of Sunshine's Design Team Blogs for more inspiration for your Christmas Cards, you can find their blogs on my sidebar.

Bye For Now

Christmas Cards - I just love Christmas

Hello again and thank you for stopping by to see what I have been up to. Well heaps actually. I have a couple of different cards to show you today. And yes as the title of the post suggests I just love Christmas time where we get to celebrate the birth of Jesus. I just love watching the kids get excited as they open there presents and I love Christmas carols. Here in Australia it is summer at Christmas but I still have to cook a turkey and a plum pudding. Mind you I’m the only one who likes plum pudding so last year I decided to do an ice cream one instead. We were so full from our lunch we didn’t get to eat it. It is still in the freezer. Maybe I should try it before Christmas to see if it is any good and whether I should make another one for this year. A lot of Australians are now opting to have seafood for Christmas instead of the traditional Turkey roast. It is really the only time that we get to eat turkey so I don’t want to stop. O.k. enough about Christmas time apart from to say that I got married 3 days after Christmas, my birthday is 4 days after and my husband has his birthday 5 days after. So really a big week of celebration.

Well on to the cards

Firstly I will show you the card I made for Sunshine’s Stamps. This week we were challenged to use one of Sunshine’s Sentiments as our main focal point. Well I saw a card on Splitcoast Stampers that I thought I should give a try and would be great for a Sentiments card. It is called a Joy Fold and you can find it here.

I have used Sunshine’s Glory to God sentiment as I thought it would be great to get a Christmas card done. Been rather slack and haven’t really made too many to give away apart from this one and the card I will show you after this one.

Well here is is I hope you like it. I have take a photo of the card closed, half open and then completely open so that you get to see all the different aspects of the card.

As you can see there is a place to write on the inside of the card.

I have used Sunshine’s Stamps Glory to God digital stamp
The green card stock was a gift and I don’t know the brand of it but it is good for Christmas time.
Other Card Stock is from Stampin’ Up and I used Whisper White and Purely Pomegranate.
The DSP is also Stampin’ Up and I have used Paper from Berry Bliss, Bella Rose and a Christmas pack from the previous year that I had left over,
I have sponged the edges of the sentiment with purely pomegranate ink.
The Ribbon is Stampin’ Up Old Olive Striped Grosgrain
The pearls are kaisercraft.

I want to show you also what I was up to in the past week. I run, along with some lovely ladies who help me, a night out for the girls at my church. We do this once a month. Well on Thursday night it was out last one for the year as Christmas time is very busy for us at our church. As it was out last time together for this year we went out to dinner. We had a great time and there were 18 of us. Well once I knew how many were coming I thought I would make a Christmas card for everyone. In my last post you saw that I had just found the easel card well I thought it would be perfect for this great stamp set from Stampin’ Up called A wish for Peace. Well I set about to make 20 just in case a couple of extras turned up and I ended up making 19 as I made a mistake on one.

Here is the photo of the cards all together. O.k. so there are only 18 there not 19. I thought it looked better with just 18 in the photo but you get the idea. Now I have to be very specific about the numbers as my Son would pick me up on that and come to think of it so would my daughter. LOL!

I have used Stampin’ Up’s A Wish for Peace stamp set.
I have used the same green card stock that was given to me. I have many, many pieces of this card stock (thank you Shaz) so I can make a lot of cards with it.
Stampin’ Up card stock very vanilla, I stamped the image and sentiment onto this and if you flip the card open I also had a little note to everyone inside.
The DSP was also Stampin’ Up and was part of the purely pomegranate range which was last years in colour. (I still love it)
The ink used was Stampin’ Up chocolate chip, Old Olive and Handsome Hunter.
The Technique used on the main stamp was markers direct to stamp. I used both the old olive and handsome hunter on the tree to give some depth to the tree.
I also used Renoir star brads to hold the easel up.

Hope that you like both these cards and I look forward to seeing you next week when I will be back with another Christmas card to show you.

Thanks for stopping by.

Remembrance Day - November 11th

Hello again from a very hot and sunny Melbourne. We are in a bit of a spring heat wave here with hot and humid summer temperatures. So for all of you looking at this post from Australia I hope that you are able to have a cool day somewhere inside and remember to slip, slop slap to help avoid skin cancer.

Today I have for you Soldier Bunny. Sunshine brought out a few images and sentiments to coincide with Remembrance Day which is November 11th. It is the day that we remember the end of World War 1 and subsequent wars and all the brave men and women who fought for our Country.

Soldier bunny is very cute and I happen to be looking for a card sketch to use for Soldier bunny when a came across a challenge at Crazy 4 Challenges and they had a challenge to use an easel card. Well I had never seen one so I looked for the instructions and I like this video that I found to explain how to put one together. I hope you like Sunshine’s Soldier bunny and Sunshine’s Sentiment: Lest we Forget.

Three's A Charm - Christmas Blog Hop and a great project for you to try

I know what you are saying 2 posts in one week…What is going on? Well I am glad that you asked. Sunshine’s Stamps is joining with 2 other digital stamp companies to have Three’s Company Blog Hop on November 7th. Head on over to Sunshine’s Blog for all the details of the fun hop and blog candy…... It will be FANTASTIC!

Sunshine has some new members on the DT so they are participating in the blog hop this time so I know that you will have fun checking out their fabulous cards and projects as well as Ildico and The Stamping Boutique DT projects.

Although I am not part of the blog hop this time when I saw the Candle and Ornament stamp from Sunshine’s Christmas stamps I just had to put together a project to show you.

This is what I came up with. It is a luminary and I found the project here at SplitCoast Stampers. It is really easy to make and how good does it look! Well I like it anyway, hope you do too!

I have taken photos of the luminary both with the candle lit and not lit so that you can see what it looks like.

Luminary without lit candle:

Luminary in the dark with votive candle lit:

Luminary in daylight with the votive candle lit:

This is what I used.

Sunshine’s Digital Stamps: Candle and Ornament
Stampin Up’s snowflake stamp from the short and sweet set.
Card Stock: The Green was given to me so not sure what brand it is. The Candle and Ornament I printed out onto Whisper White Card from Stampin’ Up.
The cut out windows are backed with vellum.
Inks: Stampin’ Up Ruby Red, Real Red, Pixie Pink, Rose Red, Handsome Hunter, Pretty in Pink, Going Grey and Basic Black.
I also used versamark to emboss the silver snowflakes in the base card. I should have used my embossing buddy but completely forgot so I had to get out the paint brush to brush off excess silver embossing powder (also Stampin’Up). I suggest you use an embossing buddy so the embossing powder sticks to just what you want it to and nothing else.
I also used my heat gun for the embossing
I used Stampin’ Up’s Crystal effects on the candle to make it look like the wax was running and on the berries on the holly to make them stand out a bit more.
To Cut out the windows in the box I used the cuttings system from Creative Memories.
I used my personal trimmer, scissors and scoring tool, super strong tape to keep the box together and also dimensionals to pop the Candle out from the box as I didn’t think it looked quite right flush to the box.

Thanks for stopping by and don’t forget to jump over to the blog hop it will be lots of fun.

Click on the Banner and you will jump right to Sunshine's Blog for the details or put these addresses into your address bar to jump to each of the three companies blogs to start your blog hop. Enjoy!!!

Don't forget there are 12 Copic Markers up for grabs as the prize of this blog hop! How good is That!
