Week 16 - Colour Creations Blog Hop - Early Espresso

Welcome to week 15 of the 2021-22 Colour creations blog hop! I can't believe we are in September already let alone into week 15 of this years colour creations blog hop. I must be feeling a bit old this week since my youngest turned 20 on Monday.  So this week we are all about Early Espresso and it is actually one of the Neutral colours I think I use quite a lot. It is not black and not chocolate and fits well with Sahara Sand, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla as a base and that is how I use it mostly and I rarely stamp with it as the main colour.

So for today's card I have still used Early Espresso as my base and I have stamped with it, I have even used Sahara Sand and Crumb Cake plus I have used my favourite, Stampin' blends to add just a hint of colour to all these neutrals that I have joined together.

In my latest order from Stampin' Up I received Natures Harvest Bundle in the July-December Mini as I just had to have it as I thought it was so gorgeous and it fits so lovely with the Quiet Meadow Bundle from the Annual catalogue. Ok I got the suite as I loved all the elements and I was going to put the brushed metallic dots on this card but as you can see I didn't in the end, I forgot so it must not have needed it when I  got to that last stage of adding bling.

I have a few elements to this card and I started with the Bark 3D embossing folder in the Early Espresso card then I cut out the sprigs and twigs in Sahara Sand and Crumb Cake from the Harvest Dies. Thought we needed a little bit of glitter so I got the Gold Shimmer Vellum and cut out the elements in those as well and added them to the card. Before I did that I added a little bit of colour to the top of the wheat stalks, well I think they are wheat stalks with my blending brush in So Saffron and Pumpkin Pie.

I wanted to do a double bow again this week. I don't know why it just called to me so I have the Diamond Weave Ribbon and then then a little Linen Ribbon on top. The Sentiment is stamped on Basic White in Early Espresso and the I fussy cut around it but didn't separate it as I wanted it to still be together but be able to see through it at the same time.

Rhapsody in craft,Early Espresso,#colourcreationsbloghop,Nature's Harvest, Harvest Dies,Bark 3D embossing folder,Friendship Cards,Thank you cards,Flowers,Gold Shimmer Vellum,Stampin Blends,Stampin' Up, Jul-Dec Mini

The main flowers of this arrangement is stamped in Early Espresso then I took out my Stampin' Blends and went to work. The stalks are in Light and Dark Old Olive and the flowers are in Dark and Light Cinnamon Cider, Light and Dark Pumpkin Pie and Light and Dark So Saffron which is why I added a little bit of those colours to the tops of the wheat stalks. I popped the flowers and the sentiment up on dimensionals.

The card is layered onto Gold Shimmer Vellum to tie it all in to the sprigs of vellum on the front of the card.

I hope you have enjoyed my Early Espresso card today.

Week 8 - Heart of Christmas

Welcome to Week 8 of the Heart of Christmas for 2021. I have a decided not to do a fancy fold today purely as I wanted to make sure I had a card for you as I spent the weekend in bed with a migraine and I wanted to start to show you some quick cards now that we are getting to the end of the year (SSSHH! don't tell me that!) I know we don't want to hear that we are nearing the end of the year so I wanted to start to show you some quick Christmas cards so that you can start to build up your stash.

I have shown you some cards with the Peaceful Deer and the Angels of Peace, (I must have been on a theme of peace) so I thought I had better get out the Wise Men in the Great Tidings Bundle as I had not had a play with them yet.

I first cut out the City of David in Basic Black and  used the negative as a guide to kind of give me hills to blend some night sky in the distance for the Wise Men. I placed the then negative with a little extra cutting to fit the whole piece across the Basic White card and got out Misty Moonlight and Night of Navy and started to blend away. I went the way of the City of David first and then turn the mask over to have the hill go the other way for the Wise Men. For some reason I just think they need to be travelling over hill and dale to get there as it was a very long journey for them. I left it quite pale around the city so that it was a highlight. I cut out an extra city in Gold Shimmer Vellum as a light shadow. In the sky  you can also see some extra twinkling stars I have used the White Stampin' Chalk Marker

On the inside of the card I have  heat embossed the 3 gifts of the Wise Men and coloured them with the Stampin' blends like I have with the 3 Wise men on the front of the card.

The 3 Wise Men have been heat embossed on gold and coloured with the Stampin' Blends I couldn't help but used my favourite Blackberry Bliss for one. What colours would you use to colour these kings? For the hill that the Wise Men are standing on I am using the Tidings of Christmas DSP and after heat embossing the sentiment I trimmed it down with the paper trimmer and then using the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch I made the ends look like they were fit for a king! LOL!

Well if you would like to know anymore about how I created the background before I added it to a layer of Gold Shimmer Vellum and then to a base of Night of Navy to finish off my card please don't hesitate to contact me.

Please head over to the always extremely creative Andrea Sargent's blog. I love her creations each week and she always puts such thought and care into each card. I can't wait to discover all the extra wow she manages to pack into a card. Last time Andrea created gorgeous Pillow Box treats for us so hit the next blog button to go there now.

If at any time the next blog buttons don't work while you are going around that blog hop just head on over to our host of this weeks Heart of Christmas Tina Gillespie and there you will find a list of those participating and you will be able to continue the hop from there.

Week 11 - Colour Creations Blog Hop - Cinnamon Cider

Well here we are again my friends I am not sure what to say really. I had to make sympathy cards in January for dear friends at the passing of their Uncle and Brother-in-law Lionel who was such a sweet man and whom I have known for the last few years and was such a friend to me and encouraged my singing. He was a fantastic singer. Well this week his lovely wife Joan passed. I am struggling I must admit to make yet another sympathy card. We never like to do them do we but like all things in life this too is something that we all go through, the passing of a dear loved one.

So for this week I looked for a bit of inspiration and I  came across a card from Gail Ellis which is a bit of a coincidence as Joan's sister married and Ellis so I thought it was appropriate to make a card inspired by Gail for Joan's sister Heather Ellis.

Rhapsody in craft, Cinnamon Cider, Very Versailles, Prized Peony, Sympathy Card, Emboss Resist, Shadow Technique, Blending Brushes, Tasteful Textiles Embossing Folder, Gold Shimmer Vellum, #colourcreationsbloghop, Stampin' Up

Gail did this technique with the leaves from the Very Versailles leaves called a shadow technique. She used Memento Black and then heat embossed white slightly off from the leaves. I have created the same but I used Early Espresso ink to give just a little softer look. I have stamped on Basic White card.

Rhapsody in craft, Cinnamon Cider, Very Versailles, Prized Peony, Sympathy Card, Emboss Resist, Shadow Technique, Blending Brushes, Tasteful Textiles Embossing Folder, Gold Shimmer Vellum, #colourcreationsbloghop, Stampin' Up

Once you have stamped the darker leaves and then heat embossed in white I then took the blending brushes and the Cinnamon Cider ink and blended over the top. When I had applied enough ink I buffed off the ink from the white embossed leaves so they pop! Then I got my Cinnamon Cider Stampin' Write marker and put a few splatters over the card. Now that gorgeous Gold Shimmer ribbon is in that location for a reason. 1 it looks good and 2 because I accidentally hit that spot with my marker when I was putting the splatters. LOL! Oh well, never mind cover with gorgeous ribbon!

The sentiment comes from the Prized Peony stamp set and works so well for this card. I have stamped it in Cinnamon Cider. Behind this front panel I have a layer of Gold Shimmer Vellum and then a layer of Cinnamon Cider which I have embossed with the Tasteful Textiles 3D embossing folder.

On the inside of the card I have used the residual ink on my blending brush to just add a bit of colour to the Basic White card and a little bit of splatter to match it to the front of the card.

I hope this gives you an idea for a sympathy card when you need one.

Week 10 - Colour Creations Blog Hop - "Cherry Cobbler"

Week 10 and we are at one of my favourites! I know you thought it was Blackberry Bliss and you would be correct that is my favourite but I am quite fond of Cherry Cobbler as well.

I decided to do a fancy fold. I know you are saying about time Sharon that you got back on the fancy fun fold wagon. Ok I did 2 fancy folds in 1 for you today just because you have wondering where they have been hiding! I am running out of fancy fold ideas I tell you!
Rhapsody in craft, Cherry Cobbler, Art Gallery, Art Gallery Bundle, Floral Gallery Dies, Birthday Card, Fun Fold, Fancy Fold, Book fold Card, Pop up Fold, Pop up Surprise Card, Simply Elegant Specialty DSP, Tidings of Christmas DSP, Gold Shimmer Vellum, Friendship Card, #colourcreationsblophop, #loveitchopit,Stampin' Up!

So no I have not made a Christmas card with Cherry Cobbler but I have used the traditional colours of Cherry Cobbler and Evening Evergreen for my card.  I think if I put the "Just want to say" on the outside in these colours you could put anything on the inside. You could put "Just want to say Merry Christmas" But I needed a birthday card so I have made a birthday card.
Rhapsody in craft, Cherry Cobbler, Art Gallery, Art Gallery Bundle, Floral Gallery Dies, Birthday Card, Fun Fold, Fancy Fold, Book fold Card, Pop up Fold, Pop up Surprise Card, Simply Elegant Specialty DSP, Tidings of Christmas DSP, Gold Shimmer Vellum, Friendship Card, #colourcreationsblophop, #loveitchopit,Stampin' Up!

I have used the gorgeous Art Gallery Stamp set and Floral Gallery Dies for this card as it is just so quick to put it together. I have stamped the flowers first in Petal Pink and then in Cherry Cobbler and the leaves are in Evening Evergreen. I have cut them out with the dies and also cut a layer of them in the Cherry Cobbler card and Evening Evergreen Card. The smaller flower I have popped up on dimensionals on the larger flower to give a bit more movement to the flower.

The Designer Series Paper I have used on the front and the inside of the card are quite the mix. The Cherry Cobbler DSP is from the Tidings of Christmas 6x6 pack and the little bit of gold you can see is from the new 12x12 Gold Shimmer Vellum, and the other piece as the backing to the focal point is from the Simply Elegant 12x12 Specialty Designer series paper and is the other side to the side you will see on the surprise on the inside of the card.

Rhapsody in craft, Cherry Cobbler, Art Gallery, Art Gallery Bundle, Floral Gallery Dies, Birthday Card, Fun Fold, Fancy Fold, Book fold Card, Pop up Fold, Pop up Surprise Card, Simply Elegant Specialty DSP, Tidings of Christmas DSP, Gold Shimmer Vellum, Friendship Card, #colourcreationsblophop, #loveitchopit,Stampin' Up!

So the main fancy fold of the card is a Book Fold card and I made one for our first week of the all new in colours and I forgot to put it in the post so I thought I would make another one. and the second fold is the inside pop up surprise card using the Simply Elegant Specialty DSP.

So on the inside of the card you have the fold that pops open. On one section I have stamped and cut out with the dies another flower and adhered it and also the Happy Birthday. and on the other square you can have a place to write to the person you are giving the card.

Here is a little video of how it opens. I asked my daughter to help me video it so you could see how the card pops up.

If you have any questions about todays card please do not hesitate to contact me. Such a fun quick card to make.

Now is the time to head to the next person on the blog hop and this week you will be heading to the lovely Theresa Gerrard. I love to see what gorgeous creations Theresa comes up with each week.
