Heart of Christmas - Week 17 - 2023

 

Welcome to our last week of the Heart of Christmas for 2023. I can't believe we have come to the end of another fantastic year of Christmas inspiration! I would like to thank the wonderful Art With Heart team for another wonderful year of the Heart of Christmas it has been another year of such beautiful inspiration.

For my card tonight I have revisited a fancy fold card that I did in 2018 and it is still a card that people ask me for details about today. If you would like to see that card here is the blog post: click here

My card today is a front panel gate fold card. I couldn't resist using the beautiful Night Divine Bundle one more time to create this card.

Here is the template for the card. There are only 2 cuts and the rest is score and folding. I suggest you score the 2 side panels at 5 cm first  Cut between the 2 score lines 3 cm from the edge. then do your other score lines. It is quick and easy!  Then decorate to your hearts content.

This view shows how to fold the card. With the bottom and the top thin section folded back in a point and the middle section out to the front and the side sections although folded back slightly to the front to help with balance since I have added the Nativity to the centre of the card!

When you lay the card flat this is how it looks. I have a base of Night of Navy and have used the O Holy Night DSP to decorate the panels. Making sure I have some stars at the top. I used the Deckled Circle Dies for my focal point! Night of Navy backed again and then a piece of the O Holy Night DSP with stars then I cut out the Nativity in gold foil and cut just the little bit off the hem of the shepherd and wise man to make them fit the circle. 

Of course we can not forget the camels and the cattle and the sheep so they are there and some wispy clouds as well. The sentiment is from the Night Divine stamp set heat embossed in gold and die cut with the Christmas Classic Dies. Don't forget the star which is die cut from gold foil from the Stars at Night dies.

Now it will fold to go in a normal envelope but it will be a little bulky so I would lay it flat and put it in a little bit bigger envelop or make a box envelope for it.

I also added a place to write on the back and another camel as you can not have enough of these animals!

Heart Of Christmas - Week 13 - 2023

Welcome to Week 13 of the Heart of Christmas. I hope you are excited to see all the wonderful project of the Art with Heart team this week. I know I am. I sure am excited to see what I come up with in less than 2 hours. Yes we are at that stage again this week and I have not made a thing. So here we go. Buckle up everyone for a wild ride! Ok so it will only be me on the wild ride. You sit back and enjoy the project! 

I went for a quick and easy FAUX Side Step Card. Yes I know I had to keep the fancy/fun folds going. This Bundle makes making cards so easy. So what did I do. I took out the gorgeous O Holy Night DSP after cutting the base of the card in Night of Navy. The card is 8 x 5 1/2 inches and I scored it at 3,6 and 7 inches to create the step part of the card and cut the DSP to follow along the step and valleys.

The FAUX side step I have cut a piece of Night of Navy at 3 x 6 inches and scored at 4 1/4 inches to fold over to attach on the back of the card. 

To decorate the card I have added another piece of the gorgeous DSP and heat embossed the largest sentiment in Gold. I have cut out the nativity in gold from the Night Divine Dies and some of the animals too. The start is from the Stars at Night Dies.

On the back of the card I have layered another piece of  O Holy Night DSP and a piece of Basic White so you can write your greeting to the card recipient.

Heart of Christmas - Week 11 - 2023 - Stair Stepper Card

 

Welcome to another week of some gorgeous Christmas craft fun and inspiration from the Art with Heart team!

This week I am going to make a Stair Stepper card! I saw a few different versions with diamonds or ovals as the focal point, I was still undecided until I sat down to create the card. I have made a side stepper cards but I thought I would do a regular stair stepper card!

Being our Heart of Christmas blog hop I went with my favourite bundle to decorate my stair stepper fun fold card! Night Divine!

When I thought about the steps of the card I thought they were perfect for all the sheep and cattle for this bundle. So I went to town and cut lots!

On the card base of Night of Navy that I have folded into different size steps, I have adhered O Holy Night DSP that follows on, one piece to another. You can see that I have done it even for the down slopes that you can't see when you look at that card from the front and you don't have to place it on these sections but I like the finished look this creates.

Under each of the steps I have added little hinges to keep the card from sliding apart when it is all standing up. Especially as I have added an extra large panel for the stable on the back stair.

I have cut out all the gorgeous Nativity scene with Basic Black and Gold Foil. I decided that the black that Joseph, Mary and Baby Jesus got lost in all the commotion of the stable and all the animals and visitors of shepherds and wise men. I have no idea how Baby Jesus was able to sleep! The other card stock that I have used to create the scene is Basic White, Pecan Pie, Copper Clay, and Crumb Cake.

You may have been wondering where the sentiment was. I just couldn't bring myself to put it on the front of the card but there was a perfect spot on the back so I have heat embossed in white the sentiment from the stamp set Night Divine onto Night of Navy and layered on O Holy Night DSP. I have added a spot on the back of the last stair to write your greeting for the card recipient.

Heart Of Christmas - Week 7

 

Welcome to the Heart of Christmas Week 7 for 2023. Each Monday until the end of November the Art with Heart team will be bringing you some gorgeous Christmas inspiration for you so that you will be ready for Christmas.

This week I have been quite busy out and about with my son at the Sandown 500 car racing and of course making my daughter's birthday cake so I have not had a lot of time to make a card. My card today I found the inspiration for from Carol Buckalew a Demonstrator from the US and thought I would CASE that and put my own spin on it for my card today!

I have chosen to use the O Holy Night Suite again this week. I just love this suite and I couldn't resist it again. I love that Carol had used it as a luminary so I had to give it a go as well.

I have tried to take a photo of it as it was getting dark so you could see the battery votive candle shine through! Now for the details!

I have used Night at Navy for the card base and cut 2 pieces on for the flat back panel and one for the box on the front. The box is 3 sides plus 2 edges to adhere it to the panel at the back.  I cut the gorgeous O Holy Night DSP in such a way that it wrapped around the edges of the box. Plus on the front and inside of the box I added some starry DSP. 

Before adhering the box to the panel I cut adhered the DSP and cut out the front centre panel with the Deckled Rectangle Die and adhere a layer of Vellum to the inside then adhered the box to the panel and I couldn't leave the inside without a layer of DSP so I added the extra piece to finish it off.

Now of course comes the decorations. I cut the stars in Gold Foil from the Stars at night Dies there are 2 layered on top of each other. The Nativity is also in Gold foil and cut to separate the shepherd and Wise Man. I couldn't help myself I had to cut lots of animals and the Camel was just walking into the scene. The stable was cut down and the legs cut off and turned upside down to fill in the gaps to make it look a little bit more stable so to speak!

I have stamped on the back panel the stars from the Stars at Night stamp set in Misty Moonlight stamped off and then the sentiment from the Night Divine stamp set in Night of Navy.

I so hope you have enjoyed this luminary it will be a great card to give and a lovely decoration for Christmas time.

Heart of Christmas - Week 6 - 2023 - Fun Fold

 

Welcome to week 6 of the 2023 Heart of Christmas blog hop! I do hop you are enjoying what the Art With Heart team are bringing you each week.

This week I have a really simple fun fold for you to do and lots of lovely layers. I know you will have fun making this one!

I just had to use this bundle for this fun fold I couldn't help myself and I just want to make so many of them.

I have used the Night Divine Bundle and the gorgeous O Holy Night DSP from the O Holy Night suite! AS you can see in this photo there are lots of yummy layers

When you open the card out you reveal the nativity scene.

I have taken the colours for the card from the DSP O Holy Night. Night of Navy, Boho Blue, Copper Clay, Crumb Cake, Basic White, Basic Black and I threw in a little Wild Wheat to be wild!

For the card base I have a piece of Night of Navy 27 x 14.9 cm and I have scored it at 4.1 and 8.2 cm and then you turn it around and do it at the other end exactly the same and fold first a mountain and then a valley fold. Then it is all about layering and adding a couple of extra cards to the front! For this part I have layered Boho Blue cut one 10 x 14.4 for the centre and the 2 sides are 3.8 x 14.4 and you actually need 4 of those so cut 4. The gorgeous O Holy Night DSP is 9.5x13.9 cm and one 13.9x 3.3 and you will need 4 of those so cut them at the same time. Adhere them to your card base then we can work on the front layers before decorating.

Now the base of the card you already have the 2 sides cut so adhere those and we will look at the other sections to cut. The O Holy night section is Night of Navy 13 x 7.1 cm, Boho Blue 7.1 x 12.5 cm and the DSP is 6.7 x 12. I have heat embossed in White the O Holy Night from the Night Divine stamp set before adhering the section together and then you can adhere it to the left front of your card centering it. The Camel Panel is Night of Navy 11.5x6.5 cm, Boho Blue, 6x 11 cm and the DSP is 5.5 x 10.5 cm. BEFORE you adhere this side close up the card and place dimensionals directly next to the O Holy night panel and then adhere your camel section onto the dimensionals. This will ensure that the card will fold up nicely! I added another little sentiment and the dimensions of the layers are Night of Navy 7.8x4.9 cm, Boho Blue 7.3 x 4.4 cm and the DSP is 6.8 x 3.9 make sure you heat emboss before adhering. Don't place this one on your card until we decorate.

Let's Decorate: I have taken the dies from the bundle and just had a little bit of fun. The stable is in Copper Clay as are a couple of the cattle. The camels are in Crumb Cake, I was going for the sandy dessert look! The sheep well they had to be white didn't they?! Clouds were going to be white and fluffy! The nativity is in Basic Black! You are of course wondering where the hay die came from? Well I am glad you asked and this is where my Wild Wheat and wildness came in. I went to the Earthen Texture Dies and there you have it HAY! I did a little in crumb cake to add contrast.

I couldn't just have 1 camel as there are three gifts of Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh so there are 3! Plus there had to be more than a couple of cattle and sheep so I put a couple more.

And on the back there are a couple of more cattle lowing and a place for you to write your message of Christmas cheer!
