Colour Creations Blog Hop - Week 23 - Gorgeous Grape

Hello and welcome to week 23 of the Art with Heart teams Colour Creations Blog Hop. I have been away for a few weeks from this weekly blog hop but I wanted to try and get back with a clean and simple card this week. Well that is what is in my head to plan to do let's see what comes out by the time I make my card. I am having one of those weeks. Yes, but who doesn't like to challenge themselves every now and again! Right?!

This week we are looking at Gorgeous Grape:
Gorgeous Grape

Gorgeous Grape is one of the colours from the Brights collection and is a deep rich purple!

So this is what I have come up with:
Rhapsody in craft, #rhapsodyincraft,#colourcreationsbloghop,#colourcreationsbloghop2022,#cleanandsimplecards,#cleanandsimple,#gorgeousgrape, Gorgeous Grape, Cottage Rose, Blender Pen, Friendship Card, Blending brush, Natural Finish Ribbon,Cottage flower dies, Stampin' Up!

I have gone back to probably my most used set of the 2022-23 Annual Catalogue and that is the Cottage Rose. I will link you back to some of my Cottage Rose Posts right at the end of this post if you want to go back and have a look some time.
Rhapsody in craft, #rhapsodyincraft,#colourcreationsbloghop,#colourcreationsbloghop2022,#cleanandsimplecards,#cleanandsimple,#gorgeousgrape, Gorgeous Grape, Cottage Rose, Blender Pen, Friendship Card, Blending brush, Natural Finish Ribbon, Cottage flower dies, Stampin' Up!

I took out the blending brush and gave a little shadow of gorgeous grape behind the focal rose. Instead of using the large rose from the stamp set I used the medium. I took the blender pen and carefully added some dark lines of Gorgeous grape (as I had stamped the image in Basic Grey) and when there was less ink on the blender pen I added some paler gorgeous grape ink to the outer edge of the petals. The Natural Finish Ribbon I thought was a nice background for the flower and the leaves that I coloured in old olive stampin' blends.

If you have any questions about my project today please do not hesitate to contact me.

Now is the time to head to the next person on our journey of Gorgeous Grape and today you will be going to Cathy Proctor, I love the way she creates such elegant cards, so just hit on the next blog button and you will go straight there. I can't wait to see what she has for us today!

If at anytime you find a broken link please head to our lovely weekly host Cathy Proctor and on her blog she will have the list of the Art with Heart team members participating this week. Thanks Cathy: Cathy's Blog

If you want to look back at some other ideas for this gorgeous stamp set here are the blog posts to get some other ideas for how to use the Cottage Rose Bundle:

World Card Making Day 2022

Thank you for joining us on World Card Making Day! Each year on the first Saturday in October we set aside the day to make cards. This year the lovely Kathryn Mangelsdorf put a call out for some of us to do a blog hop as well. What a fantastic idea Kathryn. Thanks for hosting our hop!

Here is what I have made for our hop.
Rhapsody in craft,#rhapsodyincraft,#wcmd,#worldcardmakingday2022,#worldcardmakingday,fancy fold card, thank you card, diagonal joy fold card, Cottage Rose, Cottage Rose Bundle, Abigail Rose DSP, Celebrating You, Celebrations Tag Dies, Spit Card textures Dies, Stampin' Up!, #loveitchopit

I love making fancy fold cards, they don't have to be super difficult and this one is just a couple of cuts and folds. It is called a Diagonal Joy Fold Card. I need to make around 20 thank you cards for my daughters 21st that we have just had and I thought a nice easy fancy fold would be just the ticket!

Now you can decorate them anyway you like but the base of the card is easy to make. Let me take you through the steps after choosing your colour scheme and I used the Abigail Rose DSP for my base colour palette.

Step 1. Card base A4 score in half down the middle

Step 2. Cut in half and then using the middle score line cut from there to the bottom of the card base diagonally. Do this for both cards and you will have 2 card bases.

Here are my 20 ready to go for all my thank you cards!

Step 3. Choose the DSP that you would like to use and cut it to the size that is the first layer that you would add to your base card. I cut mine to 10 x 14.4cm. Cut these diagonally into triangles. (As you can see the one side I can use for my basic grey bases and the other side for my Early Espresso bases)

Step 4. Cut the card that will become the other folding part and where you write to your receiver of the card. Mine are 8 x 21 cm. score and fold in half.
Step 5. Sorry no photo cut DSP that you wish to go under your focal point flower 7.5 cm x10 cm

Step 6. Cut another piece of DSP or you could cut a piece of Mossy Meadow card the size of 10 x 14.4 cm and your the split card textured dies. I thought it would look like the flowers had a lattice background.

Step 7: Stamp your flowers and leaves and your sentiment. I have done both on Very Vanilla and Basic White to go with the colours of my cards. I have used the Cottage Rose Stamp for the flower and the Celebrating you for the Thank you stamp

Step 8: Die cut and colour your roses and leaves. I used the cottage Rose Dies to cut these out and then the wonderful Stampin' Blends to colour them in. Don't they look wonderful all together.

Now we can assemble our card.

Step 9: First adhere the split die texture piece or your piece of DSP to the inside of your card.

Step 10: Adhere the triangle to the front of the card. Start with the tip it makes it easier.
Rhapsody in craft,#rhapsodyincraft,#wcmd,#worldcardmakingday2022,#worldcardmakingday,fancy fold card, thank you card, diagonal joy fold card, Cottage Rose, Cottage Rose Bundle, Abigail Rose DSP, Celebrating You, Celebrations Tag Dies, Spit Card textures Dies, Stampin' Up!, #loveitchopit
Step 11: Place adhesive on the back of your folded writing section and slide it under your triangle fold and adhere to the lattice base card.

It is easier to make sure you have it centred if you slide it in carefully before pushing down and adhering.

Step 12: Decorate the front of your card anyway you like. See the thank you I have cut that out using the Celebrations Tag Dies. It was the perfect fit!

You can even fold the triangle the other way if you wanted a different look.

Here is half of them but all 20 are complete ready to be written in and sent out this week. Oh and I couldn't help but put on some bling with the gorgeous Iridescent Pearls.

I do hope those steps were helpful and will encourage you to try making the base and you can decorate it with your stamps and in your style but if you have any questions about my project today don't hesitate to contact me.

Colour Creations Blog Hop - Week 13 - Cherry Cobbler

Rhapsody in craft, Cherry Cobbler, Cottage Rose, Cottage Rose Bundle, Cottage Flower Dies, #colourcreationsbloghop, Wedding Card, Blessings of Home, Timeworn Type 3D embossing folder, Lasting Label Punch, Stampin' Blends, Stampin' Up!

Welcome to week 13 of the Colour Creations Blog Hop, this week we are going to be using Cherry Cobbler as our colour in the spotlight! I have for you a couple of projects. I have a couple of very quick scrapbook pages and a card today.

I recently did some decorating for a wedding and helped with some of the activities for the guest. One of the activities that was requested was that everyone take a polaroid of themselves and add it to a scrapbook and write a message to the bride and groom. The book was supplied and I have been given a couple of photos from the photographer to scrap to add to it. So I have taken a couple of those for today that don't have the happy couple in them as I don't have their permission to put their faces on my blog and I have a card to go with the colour scheme as well.
Rhapsody in craft, Cherry Cobbler, Cottage Rose, Cottage Rose Bundle, Cottage Flower Dies, #colourcreationsbloghop, Wedding Card, Blessings of Home, Timeworn Type 3D embossing folder, Lasting Label Punch, Stampin' Blends, Stampin' Up

For the card today I have used a Gray Granite card base and I have used our gorgeous Cottage Rose stamp set and stamped the leaves in Gray Granite on the base. I have used the 2 largest stitched rectangle dies for the layers one in Cherry Cobbler and then the focal point layer in Basic White.
Rhapsody in craft, Cherry Cobbler, Cottage Rose, Cottage Rose Bundle, Cottage Flower Dies, #colourcreationsbloghop, Wedding Card, Blessings of Home, Timeworn Type 3D embossing folder, Lasting Label Punch, Stampin' Blends, Stampin' Up

On the Basic White layer I have stamped the large Cottage Rose stamp in Gray Granite but I think I would stamp it a bit darker  next time as the Cherry Cobbler Blends are quite dark against the gray granite ink. After I coloured the rose with Light and Dark Cherry cobbler and Light Sweet Sorbet, Dark So Saffron and Light and Dark old Olive I put the panel through the Cut & Emboss Machine with the Timeworn Type 3D embossing folder.
Rhapsody in craft, Cherry Cobbler, Cottage Rose, Cottage Rose Bundle, Cottage Flower Dies, #colourcreationsbloghop, Wedding Card, Blessings of Home, Timeworn Type 3D embossing folder, Lasting Label Punch, Stampin' Blends, Stampin' Up

For the sentiment overlaying stamped in memento black ink, I used the Blessings of home stamp set and then I punched it out with the Lasting Label Punch. I have popped it up on some dimensionals with some white crickle seam binding underneath and I have added some bling with the basic pearls that I have coloured with the dark cherry cobbler stampin' blend.
Rhapsody in craft, Cherry Cobbler, Cottage Rose, Cottage Rose Bundle, Cottage Flower Dies, #colourcreationsbloghop, Scrapbook, Silver Metallic Edge Cotton Ribbon, STampin' Blends, STampin' Up

For the first scrapbook page I have a photo of the  welcome sign for the guests to the wedding. As you can see the photo album is black I have backed the photo in a layer of retired DSP to correspond with welcome sign and then with a layer of Basic Grey then the photo is layered on top of the gorgeous Silver and Gold DSP from the Sale-A-Bration Brochure. I have then stamped the flowers from the Cottage rose and the leaf and coloured them again with the stampin' blends like I did for the card and added a little silver metallic edge cotton ribbon.
Rhapsody in craft, Cherry Cobbler, Cottage Rose, Cottage Rose Bundle, Cottage Flower Dies, #colourcreationsbloghop, Scrapbook, Silver Metallic Edge Cotton Ribbon, STampin' Blends, STampin' Up

I couldn't go past scrapping the bouquet so I stamped and cut out some more of the gorgeous Cottage Rose and coloured them again with the Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Blends, I have used all the dies on this page from the Cottage Flower dies. I used them to cut out all the coloured flowers and I have cut out the other flower dies in cherry cobbler card and the leaves in old olive to add some more dimension.
Rhapsody in craft, Cherry Cobbler, Cottage Rose, Cottage Rose Bundle, Cottage Flower Dies, #colourcreationsbloghop, Scrapbook, Silver Metallic Edge Cotton Ribbon, STampin' Blends, STampin' Up

Here is a closer look at the layering of flowers and a little bit of the silver metallic edge ribbon. I have again layered with the gold and silver DSP from the Sale-A-Bration brochure and the photo of the bouquet has a layer of gray granite, cherry cobbler and black before adding it to the page.

If you have any questions about my projects today or would love to get your hands on these products just hit the contact button and I will be happy to help you.

Now is the time to head to the next very creative person on our journey of Cherry Cobbler and this week you will be heading to Cathy Proctor, I love her creations each week they are always so elegant and so inspiring I can't wait to see what she has for us this week so just hit the next blog button and you will go straight there.

Colour Creations Blog Hop - Week 6 - Balmy Blue

This week for our Colour Creations Blog Hop we are heading back to our gorgeous staple colours and will be going in alphabetical order. So we are looking at Balmy Blue.

I have recently purchased the Abigail Rose suite and I am loving it and I have made a few cards for the next few weeks using the stamp set and dies but I have not used the other elements in the suite yet I will have to get on to that! So keep an eye out to see how I have just loved using this rose in a few cards. Well I thought I had better get back to making a fancy fold and this is one I hadn't made before so here goes!
Rhapsody in craft, Balmy Blue, Fancy Fold, Fancyfoldcards, Birthday card, Cottage Rose, Cottage flower dies, Cottage Rose Bundle, Stylish Shapes Dies, Shutter Card fold, Awash in Beauty DSP, Stampin' Up!, #colourcreationsbloghop, #ArtwithHeart, #loveitchopit
So this card has many elements to it and I followed along with a video that I found and adapted from a UK Stampin' Up! demonstrator Jan B. I will add her link at the end of the blog if you wish to have a look at how she put it all together.
Rhapsody in craft, Balmy Blue, Fancy Fold, Fancyfoldcards, Birthday card, Cottage Rose, Cottage flower dies, Cottage Rose Bundle, Stylish Shapes Dies, Shutter Card fold, Awash in Beauty DSP, Stampin' Up!, #colourcreationsbloghop, #ArtwithHeart, #loveitchopit

As you can see there are quite a few elements to the card.
So what did I do.

I first cut 3 pieces of Balmy Blue Card the same size of the front of a card base and a card base. I set the card base aside.

On one of the 3 other pieces in Balmy blue ink I stamped around the edge the 3 flower rose stamp.
I then adhered it to one of the other pieces that I had cut and set it aside to dry while I got to work on the hinge mechanism.

I cut 3 of these and scored them

Cut out the piece on each that wasn't needed

Cut out that little extra but that makes the folds work oh so much better.

Folded the tabs, now the hinges were ready to decorate!

I decided to use the Awash in Beauty DSP as it has Balmy Blue as one of the colours. Plus how gorgeous is this paper!!!  So I used this side as the front and then turn it over and I used the back.....
For the inside of the back of my hinges.
Now we have to put it all together.

Cut out the centre of the stamped card. Now I did cut it out at 5/8 inches from each side which is around 1.58 cm so you chose which measurement you would like to use but it is quite easy to do on the trimmer at 5/8 inches.

On the 3rd piece of Balmy Blue card it is time to add your hinges. lay the first one down all the way to the left just adhering the tabs at the top and bottom then with that folded open butt the second hinge right up against the first hinge and adhere it and then the third hinge right up against the second.

Before adding the top I have added another piece of the Awash with Beauty DSP between each hinge not only to decorate but to hide the hinge mechanism.

Place some glue on each hinge and then starting with them closed and the non Balmy Blue side up start at the right hand side and slowly place the top over the hinged with the glue facing up.

Now we are all put together we can adhere the shutter card to the card base.

I decided I didn't want to stamp the flowers for each of the shutters so I went to the Cottage Flower Dies that come in the bundle or with the Abigail Rose Suite if you are able to buy the whole suite. I cut out the leaves in vellum and then the flower in Balmy Blue and adhered them onto the gorgeous Awash with Beauty DSP and some Baker's twine to finish each flower off.
Rhapsody in craft, Balmy Blue, Fancy Fold, Fancyfoldcards, Birthday card, Cottage Rose, Cottage flower dies, Cottage Rose Bundle, Stylish Shapes Dies, Shutter Card fold, Awash in Beauty DSP, Stampin' Up!, #colourcreationsbloghop, #ArtwithHeart, #loveitchopit

I wasn't finished there I stamped the Happy Birthday and cut it out with the new Stylish Shapes Dies. I told you last week you needed these dies and this one fit perfectly on my card. I also added some Polished Dots from the Jan-June Mini so if you want them get them now as they are retiring.
Rhapsody in craft, Balmy Blue, Fancy Fold, Fancyfoldcards, Birthday card, Cottage Rose, Cottage flower dies, Cottage Rose Bundle, Stylish Shapes Dies, Shutter Card fold, Awash in Beauty DSP, Stampin' Up!, #colourcreationsbloghop, #ArtwithHeart, #loveitchopit

Well of course you can't have a shutter card without something behind the shutters so I have cut out the flowers this time in Merry Merlot to match the Awash with Beauty DSP and a little one in Balmy Blue and placed them on a Vellum Leaf. I also stamped another of the sentiments from the Cottage Rose stamp set and cut it out using the Stylish Shapes Dies so now the front of our card is complete.

I did not forget the inside of the card with another piece of the the gorgeous DSP and flower die and I have added another sentiment from the stamp set. All 3 work together well for a birthday card.

Here is a little video I had my daughter hold the card and open and shut it so you could see how it works.

Hope you liked this card, it was fun to make. If you would like any help with this fancy fold or any of the products please do not hesitate to contact me.

Now is the time to head to the next person in our Balmy Blue journey. Just hit the next blog button and you will go straight there. I love to see what Andrea makes it is always so beautiful and I can't wait for her creation this week.
