Colour Creations Blog Hop - Week 16 - Crushed Curry

Welcome to week 16 of the 2022-23 Colour Creations Blog Hop. This week we are looking at a golden yellow called Crushed Curry.
Crushed Curry, Stampin' Up!
Ok so Crushed Curry isn't my favourite of all the colours as I am still traumatised from cutting 1000 crowns out in this colour a few years back but it is a great colour for crowns if you want to use it for that. I know I really need to get over it as it really is a great yellow! My card today I have used a flower that could be like a crown so this is my homage to all those crowns! 😂

So for my card this week I have used a card sketch by Dawn at Dawn Stampin' Thoughts. She has over 200 card sketches and you can use them to give you a place to start off from.
Dawn Stampin' Thoughts, Rhapsody in craft, #colourcreationsbloghop, Crushed Curry
I was asked by my daughter to make a card for a co-worker who was leaving and I was asked to do it in Crushed Curry, she was on placement and hit it off with my daughter so we wanted to give her a card when she left. I used this sketch as a starting point.

Rhapsody in craft, #rhapsodyincraft,#colourcreationsbloghop, Crushed Curry, Quiet Meadow, Tea Boutique, Tea Boutique DSP, Cup of tea, Quiet Meadow Dies, Card Sketch, Timeworn Type 3d Embossing Folder, Stitched shapes dies, Layering circle dies,#loveitchopit, Art with Heart, Stampin' Up!

So I used 2 of my favourite stamp set for this card. I am really enjoying the addition of the Cup of Tea stamp set and dies to my collection of products! For this card I have a base of Basic cray that has then been layered with Crushed Curry and Basic White!

You may have noticed that I have turned the sketch to be vertical and moved the sentiment circle. I like using the sketch as a starting off point and then seeing how I can fit it with how I need the card to go!

On a piece of the Tea Boutique DSP which just so happens to be Crushed Curry I stamped the words from the Quiet Meadow stamp set in Crushed Curry all the way down the DSP.
And just because that wasn't enough texture I put it through the Cut & emboss machine in the Timeworn Type 3D embossing folder. I just love the texture this folder gives.

I must have been trying a different camera angle here not sure it works, but hey, I don't have the card anymore! LOL! The DSP was then adhered to the top section of the card and then another gorgeous piece of the Tea Boutique DPS was backed with Basic Gray and adhered just below. For the flower panel I have Basic Gray and Smokey Slate and I have used the Meadow Dies and cut the flower out in Mossy Meadow, Crushed Curry and So Saffron and layered them together with a slight shadow and a bakers twine bow and some black matt dot bling

Then sentiment is taken from the Cup of Tea stamp set and is just perfect. I have stamped that in Basic Gray and cut it out with the Stylish Shapes dies and backed it with a Crushed Curry Scalloped circle from the layering circle dies.

I am really loving working with and stamping on DSP this year and our DSP's are just gorgeous. So I hope you can take some time this week to take care of yourself!

Colour Creations Blog Hop - Week 10 - Blushing Bride

We are at week 10 already on this years colour creation blog hop can you believe it! That is crazy! Where is the year going? This week we are looking at the colour Blushing Bride, a kind of dusty pink!

I have 2 cards for you this week. One I made a little while ago and then one a little bit more recent that my daughter asked me to make for a person at her work that was leaving.

Rhapsody in craft, Blushing Bride, Blessing of Home, Awash in Beauty DSP, Card Sketch, Stylish Shape Dies, Happy Birthday, #colourcreationsbloghop, Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder, Stylish Shapes Dies, Card Sketch, Cup of Tea, Colour & Contour, Awash in Beauty, Scalloped Contour Dies, Stampin' Up, #colourcreationsbloghop

Both cards I decided to use a sketch for the layouts. Over on Dawn Stampin' Thoughts she has 200+ card sketches.
I use the sketch as a guide and then as they are in inches and convert them to cm's and sometimes I add extra layers!
Rhapsody in craft, Blushing Bride, Blessing of Home, Awash in Beauty DSP, Card Sketch, Stylish Shape Dies, Happy Birthday, #colourcreationsbloghop,Stampin' Up!
For my first card I have used the sketch and added some layers. I have used the Blessings of Home stamp set. This is a lovely stamp set and I have gold embossed the sentiment and the flower.
Rhapsody in craft, Blushing Bride, Blessing of Home, Awash in Beauty DSP, Card Sketch, Stylish Shape Dies, Happy Birthday, #colourcreationsbloghop,Stampin' Up!
The Designer Series Paper that I have layered on Mossy Meadow Card behind my flower is from the Awash in Beauty paper pack, it is such a gorgeous paper pack! I used the Blender Pen to add a little of the Blushing Bride ink to the flower as well as some a little Daffodil delight and a little old olive for the leaves. I used the Stylish Shapes Dies for the larger sentiment.

For the second card I used this sketch as my starting point. I was asked to do a pink card by my daughter for a lady who had been on placement at her work and she wanted to give her a card when she left. I still had all my product easy at hand so I used the same colours and DSP for this card and added a couple of things.
Rhapsody in craft, Blushing Bride, Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder, Stylish Shapes Dies, Card Sketch, Cup of Tea, Colour & Contour, Awash in Beauty, Scalloped Contour Dies, Stampin' Up, #colourcreationsbloghop
For this card however I changed up the stamp sets. I used the sentiment from the cup of tea stamp set which I think is a great one for just this kind of occasion. I have paired it with the Colour and Contour stamp set which coordinates with the Scalloped Contours dies.
Rhapsody in craft, Blushing Bride, Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder, Stylish Shapes Dies, Card Sketch, Cup of Tea, Colour & Contour, Awash in Beauty, Scalloped Contour Dies, Stampin' Up, #colourcreationsbloghop

For this card I have used a card base of of Thick Basic White then a layer of Mossy Meadow and a layer of Blushing Bride. The Blushing Bride Layer has been embossed with with the Timeworn Type 3D embossing folder. A Layer of DSP from the Awash in Beauty and that is wrapped in the gorgeous new Rose Gold and White Striped ribbon.
The flower is stamped in Mossy Meadow and then in Blushing Bride and cut out with the Scalloped contour dies and the sentiment with the Stylish Shapes Dies!

Hope you get some inspiration about using sketches as a starting point and think about using them to help kick of some of your creativity!

If you have any questions about these projects or would like some of these products to get you started please do not hesitate to contact me.

Now is the time to head to the next person on our journey of Blushing Bride and this week we will be heading to Christine Blain I can't wait to see what she has for us, she is the master of using Designer Series Paper and Male cards not sure it will be a male card with this gorgeous pink. She is always so creative so just hit the next blog button and you will go straight there.

If at anytime the next blog buttons stop working just come back to my blog and you can head to our weekly host the lovely Cathy Proctor and she will have the list of the people playing along so you can continue your journey into Blushing Bride from there: Cathy's Blog.

AWHT - Creative Showcase - March 2021 - Sketch Challenge

Welcome to the March Creative Showcase, I am so happy to be able to finally be taking part this year in the monthly showcase. I have had life get in the way and I was determined not to let it this month.

This month the team are working on a sketch challenge that has been set by our lovely host Rachel.

I actually love a good sketch challenge and I have taken this one very literal!

I do have a confession, one of the first stamp set bundles from the Jan-June Mini that I purchased was the Hydrangea Haven Bundle. This was the first time I have used it! I know shock horror! Well this is the card I came up with.

Rhapsody in craft, Hydrangea Hill, Hydrangea Haven, Hydrangea Dies, Sketch Challenge, #creativeshowcase, #loveitchopit, Jan-June Mini 2021, Stampin' Up, Friendship card

I have taken the colours from the Hydrangea Hill DSP and used them as my guide. I don't know what took me so long to get this bundle out as it is so much fun.

As you can see I have started with a Thick Basic White card base and layered with an embossed Dainty Diamonds piece of Gorgeous Grape card stock and then leaving a little border I have layered 2 of the more muted and less busy sides of the Hydrangea Hill DSP with a piece of Basic Black to make it pop.

Rhapsody in craft, Hydrangea Hill, Hydrangea Haven, Hydrangea Dies, Sketch Challenge, #creativeshowcase, #loveitchopit, Jan-June Mini 2021, Stampin' Up, Friendship card

For the stamped image of the hydrangea I have stamped it in Basic Grey and then filled it in with mossy meadow and the blue is misty moonlight but I have stamped off once so it is not quite so dark. Then I put it through the die cut not only cut it out but also to cut the flowers.

Rhapsody in craft, Hydrangea Hill, Hydrangea Haven, Hydrangea Dies, Sketch Challenge, #creativeshowcase, #loveitchopit, Jan-June Mini 2021, Stampin' Up, Friendship card

You can see here in this photo that there is an extra die that you can put your flower through and it will add this great pop ups on your hydrangea for extra texture. The little flowers are also die cut out and then I stamped Seaside Spray on after on the Basic White Card.

Rhapsody in craft, Hydrangea Hill, Hydrangea Haven, Hydrangea Dies, Sketch Challenge, #creativeshowcase, #loveitchopit, Jan-June Mini 2021, Stampin' Up, Friendship card

To finish off my card I have stamped the fabulous sentiment in gorgeous grape and layered that under the popped up hydrangea and used the great Mossy Meadow braided linen trim from the Dandy Garden suite in the Jan-June Mini and you always need a little bling and I have opted for the elegant faceted gems but you could also use the pastel pearls that come with the Hydrangea Hill suite.

I am so glad that I was able to be back for the month Creative showcase and I can wait to see who else played along today from the team and how they interpreted the sketch so please head over to our host with me Rachel to see some fabulous creations from the team: Rachel's Blog

If you have any questions about my card today or would like to get your hands on these gorgeous products and have a go yourself please do not hesitate to contact me.

AWHT Creative Showcase May 2020 - Sketch Challenge

Welcome to the Monthly Art With Heart Creative Showcase. This month the Art With Heart Team have amazing projects to share with you that have been inspired by the card sketch below. The sketch is to be used as a starting point and has been interpreted in many creative ways by the Art With Heart Team.
I have used the sketch really quite literally, I think my brain is a little bit fried. How are you all going in this time?

The gorgeous Peaceful Moments Bundle is what I decided to use for my card project tonight! It is carrying over to the Annual catalogue but it will not be a bundle and get the 10% discount so if you love it get it now before June 2. From June 3 you will be able to get them but you will have to get them separately.

Peaceful Moments, Peaceful Moments Bundle, Poppy Moments Dies, Peaceful Moments DSP, Tasteful Textures Embossing Folder, Friendship Card, Stampin' Up, Rhapsody in craft, Art With Heart, Card sketch

So for this card I used the Peaceful Moments stamp set and the Poppy Moments Dies and if you look very closely at the Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper I have used a new embossing folder from the upcoming Annual Catalogue and it is called Tasteful Textiles. I love it and you will too. Claire Daly gave me the idea to put the Designer Series paper through this embossing folder with a card that she did recently and I think you will love doing it too!

I have used the colours of the Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper to create my poppy: Rich Razzleberry, Flirty Flamingo, Crushed Curry and Mossy Meadow for the leaves all set on a Rich Razzleberry card base. For the banner I thought I would do something a little bit different and stamp the sentiment all the way down in Basic grey ink!

The next demonstrator to share her interpretation of the sketch is the fabulous Vicki Boucher and I always love seeing her creations every creative showcase.
