The Heart of Christmas - Week 14

Hello and welcome to another beautiful day.

How has your week been? Here in Australia it is starting to look like spring is just around the corner even though the temperature isn’t quite there yet. I am loving all the blossoms coming out especially the magnolias on the trees. The white and pale pink ones are starting to come out around my neighbourhood but I can’t wait for the dark purples to show, they are my favourite. How about you?

Well today is Week 14 of the Heart of Christmas and week 7 of our One Sheet Wonder.

We are nearing the end we don’t have many pieces left.  Can you believe how many different cards we have made over the last 7 weeks?

We have the original pieces and a couple extra that we have made along the way when we have cut piece up to fit the designs for that week.

I am using the 2 largest pieces left the 3” x 2 ½” and the 3”x4” but I have cut down the big piece so they are now both the same size. Next week I think I will need to get very creative with what we have left.

 I have used my favourite copper foil paper and combined it with the gorgeous copper trim. But I have teased the trim just a little bit to make it look like a netting.

I have also added the gorgeous foil snowflake in silver that is available to everyone in just a couple of day’s time on September 1^st, from the new Holiday Catalogue.

By adding some clear embossed trees from the Merry Mistletoe stamp set and the cute little deer that you can cut out using the Card Front Builder framelits you can make this card extremely quickly and make multiples for your Christmas card list.  Add a little bling with the Metallic Enamel shapes.

Add the sentiment clear embossed once stamped in Cherry cobbler from the Nature sings stamp set and cut it out with the Stitched shaped framelits and layered with Cherry Cobbler card stock using the layering oval framelits. I have popped the sentiment and the trees and deer up on dimensionals and mini dimensionals. 

Don't forget to decorate the inside of your card just something simple brings your card up to the next level. I have clear embossed the sentiment as well as the little decoration as it is a Christmas card and the inside should glisten just a little bit.

The Heart of Christmas - Week 8

Hello and welcome to another beautiful day.

Wow there are only 2o Wednesdays including today until the last week of November.  I have been really busy this week and when you think that there are only 20 weeks left until December you just wonder where the year is going so it is fantastic that we get to make Christmas cards together each week.

Well this week I have been busy making candles and cards. I organise a social get together for the ladies at my church once a month and in July we do Christmas in July. So my card from 2 weeks ago inspired my candle creation.

 

I always like to give the ladies a little gift for Christmas in July and this year I chose candles. I had 22 ladies come to the dinner and I don’t suggest you try and adhere all 22 stamped images to the candles at once.

You might want to pace yourself.  Do 3 or 4 for a table setting for your Christmas dinner!

Well I didn’t want to miss out on making a card as well this week so I have done that as well as the candles. This weeks inspiration came from one of our lovely team members Kathryn Ruddick who had her team around for a 1 page wonder night. Where they made a number of cards using 1 sheet of 12x12 Designer Series paper (DSP). I had never done this and I wanted to give it a try. I have looked on line for a few different templates and I have modified a few out there and this is what I have ended up with. Plus being interrupted by the kids a couple of times so when I was cutting, a couple of the cuts were not what I was planning. But hey lets see what we make with them over the coming weeks.

This is the sheet of DSP from the Be Merry Designer Series Paper pack.

When cutting with a pattern on one side of the sheet make sure you turn it up the right way when you cut your DSP.

This is the other side.

For the first card I used Nature Sings, what a lovely stamp set this is, I am really loving this stamp set.

I have cut out each image using the stitched shapes famelits and layered them with garden green which I cut using the layering squares framelits. The sentiment I have cut out again with the stitched shapes framelit, backed with garden green cardstock, cut out with the layering circles framelits.  The little saying at the bottom of the card was punched out perfectly with the classic label punch. The piece of DSP I used 5 ½” x3” backed by garden green card stock is adhered to the cherry cobbler card stock  then every layer is popped up on Stampin dimensionals except the trees and little deer.

Inside I have stamped the trees and deer  along with the little verse from the stamp set in smokey slate.

Well I think we are going to be able to make a lot of cards out of this one piece of DSP so I made another one while I was at it. I wanted to make one with the other side of the DSP showing.

I have the Nature Sings stamps set paired back up with Sheet Music. 

I have stayed with the same colours of cherry cobbler and garden green which is what is in the Be Merry DSP and this time added some gold bling with the gold foil paper and gold metallic thread. How gorgeous is the Old Olive Stitched-Edge Ribbon which is new this year? The DSP is 2 ½ “ x 5 ¼ “ piece and the sheet music is stamped on whisper white and has been cut to the same size and then stuck to the gold foil paper before adding the gorgeous old olive stitched-edge ribbon.  This time I have used the oval shape in the stitched shaped framelts and used the oval layering framelits in garden green. I have added some bling with the gold metallic thread with little loops off the edge of the deer cards. I have popped them ovals up on dimensionals and stamped out the sentiment and cut out in the oval the same as the deer.  The Classic label punch works beautifully for “…and heaven and nature sings”

In the Center of the card I have stamped the deer and the trees and the verse in smokey slate.

The Heart of Christmas - Week 6

Hello and welcome to another beautiful day.

I don’t know where in the world you are today but this week it has been rather cold and rainy in Melbourne, Australia, but I can still call it a beautiful day as I get to stay inside with my children and fur-baby and create.  Yesterday also was July 4^th and although it is a bit cold for a BBQ to celebrate with my American born children, I do wish my American friends a wonderful and happy July 4^th.

In this week’s Heart of Christmas get together I have used the stamp sets Nature Sings and Sheet Music so let the countdown continue …..there are only 22 Wednesdays including today until the last week of November. 

 I just couldn’t wait to get my hands on the Sheet music background stamp (p165) when I saw it in the new annual catalogue. As a musician and a former secondary school music teacher it was a must. Now for all those who would like to know what the music is on the stamp it is Beethoven’s Fur Elise. Many a young piano player has played this piece of music including myself. Plus my daughter just loves nature so Nature Sings and Sheet Music are a match made in heaven.

 Even though Sheet Music is not a Christmas carol when I saw Nature Sings (p115) I just had to put them together. I must admit I have been singing Joy to the World, while putting this card together, especially the line…and Heaven and nature sings! It is part of this stamp set and the stamp I have used at the bottom front of my card.

Don’t forget the beautiful stamped words in the centre of the card too! Stampin’ Up always has such beautiful sayings for the centre of your cards!

On the front of the card I have used the Pretty Pines thinlits to add a bit more of nature singing to the card!

•    For this card I have stamped Sheet Music in smoky slate on whisper white card.
•   I then stamped the 2 little deer in soft suede.
•  I wanted the 2 little deer to look like they were standing in front of the line of pine trees which are stamped in old olive so I stamped another set of little deer and fussy cut them out and place them over the 2 dear I had already stamped as a mask and then stamped the trees over the top of the masked deer. Completing the row of trees as well.
• To have the large elk appear in the foreground I stamped him to the bottom of the page and in the darker ink of early espresso.
• Cut out 2x shortest pine branches from the pretty Pine thinlets and 1x the middles size in tranquil tide card stock
• Cut out 2x smallest leaf branch in soft suede
• Cut out 3x little twigs in crumb cake
•  Cut out 1x pine cone in gold foil
• Using the fine tip glue pen put glue on just the top 3 or 4 branches down on the tranquil tide and adhere them just slightly down from the top left of the card
• Then layer the 2 soft suede leaves then the crumb cake twigs before placing the Gold pine cone on top.
•  On the back of the card use some fast fuse to adhere the Burlap ribbon diagonally across the top left of your card overlapping the branches just to cover the top and stick the ribbon on the back of the card.
•  Adhere the gold ribbon across the middle of the burlap ribbon and wrap around the back of the card and adhere down with fast fuse.
• Adhere the card front down onto tranquil tide card which measures 10cmx14.5 which is just slightly bigger than you card front.
• Adhere this to an Early espresso card base with your favourite adhesive.
•  With a mini glue dot add a gold ribbon bow to your gold ribbon at the top left of the card.
•  Stamp “…and heaven and nature sing” on some whisper white card stop and using your stampin’ trimmer cut as close to the words but keeping as straight as possible. Then add a backing of tranquil tide card stock and trim closely and pop up on mini dimensionals and place just next to the knees of the elk on the bottom right of your card. 
•  Stamp you Christmas sentiment on whisper white and using the smallest oval from the stitched framelits cut it out.
•  Cut out the smallest scalloped oval and adhere the 2 together pop up on dimensionals and place just down from the top on the right hand side of your card.
