Colour Creations Blog Hop - Week 11 - 2024-2025 - Blackberry Bliss - 3D Pillar Card

Today for week 11 of the 2024-25 Colour Creations Blog Hop we are looking at my favourite colour. I know that it is not to some people's liking but this rich purple is one of my favourites!

So for my favourite colour I was fortunate to be asked to make a very special birthday card by my friend for her sister, she is also my friend so no pressure there on making a fancy fold card. At least the request was to use the DSP Perennial Lavender and that has Blackberry Bliss in it. I had free rein to make a fancy fold card!

I have made a 3D Pillar card and a box for it as well. I got the directions for the card from Barry at Mitosu Crafts but the box is a matter of measuring once the card is made.

Here is how I made the card.

The base of the card is our colour of the week Blackberry Bliss and I have 5 pillars or boxes. When adhering each individual box together lay them flat so that when you get to adhere them all together you are able to lay them flat in the box.

I have layered each box with Lost Lagoon card.

On top of the Lost Lagoon I have added the Gorgeous Perennial Lavender DSP. I have cut it so that it follows along in the pattern before I cut the length for the smaller 2 pillars.

Join each of the pillars to the next pillar one at a time laying them flat while you it adheres and to make sure they are straight. This will also make sure that you will be able to lay it flat in the box for packaging.

Once all joined together we can work on the focal point.

A layer of Blackberry Bliss and Lost Lagoon before adding the rest of the focal point.

Using the gorgeous large leaf die from the Thoughtful wishes dies I cut a piece of Basic White just a bit larger.

Using the blending brushes on the piece of Basic White I have blending Blackberry Bliss on the top and Lost Lagoon on the bottom. As I will be cutting it out with the leaf die it doesn't matter that it is not perfectly smooth and blended. 

For the rest of the focal point I have embossed a layer of Basic White with the Eyelet 3D and adhered that before adding some of the decorations. The leaf we have just created plus a stamped leaf which is coloured in light and dark Lost Lagoon Stampin' Blends. I have cut out a label in Basic White using the Something Fancy Dies and then stamped the happy birthday from the Country Birdhouse stamp set and cut that out using the Stylish shapes dies. The 2 extra leaves I cut out using the extra blended paper.

 Oh don't forget to add some white bakers twine!

Now you could leave it here as a birthday card but my friend wanted a 60 so I added a 60 for her sister!

Yes there is somewhere to write I made sure there was plenty of space on the back of the pillars.

To make the box packaging I laid the card flat and measured the length and width, then measured the height. After getting the measurements I added the height to the measurements of length and width to make sure I had enough card to go up the sides and ends. To create the lid you add on 1/8 of an inch to give just a little bit of space for the lid to go over the bottom of the box.

I have used the other half of the piece of Perennial Lavender DSP to cover the top of the box and I have created a second focal point to go on the lid. To tie the lid shut I have used the white ribbon from the Petal Pink and White Diagonal Trim Pack. I left it quite long so that my friend could tie the bow how she liked.

This was a fun project and the Perennial Lavender DSP does most of the work!

Colour Creations Blog Hop - Week 9 - 2024 -2025 - Basic Gray

Today we are highlighting one of our Neutral colours for week 9 of the 2024-25 Colour Creations Blog hop and that colour is Basic Gray!

Today I have totally CASEd a project with a couple of twists of my own from a demonstrator in the US her name is Jilli Bling. I just loved her project that she made using Pebble Path and so I recreated it with a few adjustments in Basic Gray.

My colour palette for you for today is Basic Gray, Gold and White, which is just stunning with these product! I have made a portfolio and 3 cards for you to go in the portfolio!

I have used the Lovely & Sweet Bundle and the Nature's Sweetness Specialty DSP to create my projects for you today!

Let's get into some of the details.

For the portfolio I have taken the Basic Gray and cut it down to 10 inches by the 8 1/4 inches of our card stock here in Australia.  Then comes a little bit of scoring. Here is a template to give you an idea.

Score down the 2 center marks at 4 3/4 and 5 1/4 inches from one side to give you a spine, then up 2 and 2 1/4 inches. Next time I make it I think I would reduce this for Australia card A4 Card so our envelopes would fit in the portfolio as well. That extra 1/4 of an inch would be perfect so just reduce the  fold up by that. Cut out the center where marked then glue the sides together with the 2 extra pieces you have cut and scored for stability and strength.

The belly band I have stamped in versa mark with a couple of the stamps from the Lovely and Sweet stamp set and then to give it a fancy end I have used a die from the Country Birdhouse Dies.

On the ends of the belly band I have added a couple of dimensionals to add then sentiment. You can see that the front of the Portfolio is layered in Basic White and the gorgeous Nature's Sweetness Specialty DSP.

I have stamped the sentiment in Versa Mark and used the new Metallic WOW Gold Embossing Powder! and cut it out with the Lovely and Sweet Dies! Layered all of this on Gold foil, Nature's Sweetness Specialty DSP cut out using the Something Fancy Dies and a little bit of Linen Thread. To finish off the Belly Band I have cut out one of the Lovely and Sweet dies in Basic White.

Card 1.

The first card that I have for you in the portfolio uses the Lovely and Sweet Bundle and a sentiment from the Country Birdhouse

For the focal point on Card 1. I have embossed the largest leaf and flower stamp onto Basic Gray with the Gold Metallic Wow Embossing Powder and with a water painter and the Whisper White and Basic Gray ink I have coloured the flowers and nuts in white and then the leaves in Basic Gray.

As you can see the painting of the image just makes it pop! To complete this card I kind of cheated as the colour on the DSP is actually Pebble Path but with Basic Gray it looks pretty good I say and then I braided a little bit of linen thread to add to the card under the layer of Gold Foil and Basic Gray Card. Don't forget to add some Basic Gray pearls they are perfect!

Card 2 & 3.

For these 2 cards I again used the  Lovely and Sweet Bundle and the Nature's Sweetness Specialty DSP and the sentiments are from Spotlight on Nature that I have embossed in the Basic White Wow embossing Powder.

To create the colour for the DSP on my 2 cards I have blended Basic Gray onto the gorgeous DSP. One a little darker than the other. Which one do you like?

Card 2.

This card I have added a layer of Basic Gray on top of the base as well as the blended DSP I have added some sprigs from the Lovely and Sweet Dies in white under the sentiment which is cut out from the Lovely and Sweet dies and layered on a Gold Foil cut out with the Something Fancy dies. Don't forget the bling of the Basic Gray Pearls.

Card 3.

This card I have blended the Basic Gray quite a bit darker as you can see and I have added a braided piece comprising of 2 pieces of Linen thread and 1 piece of white Bakers Twine. I have attached this with mini glue dots but you could attach it with liquid glue.

On the inside of each card I have gold embossed a portion of the larger leaf image as you need to have some decoration with this lovely gift of cards.

Colour Creations Blog Hop - Week 8 - 2024-2025 - Balmy Blue

 

This week we are looking at Balmy Blue one lovely blue colours.

I have made a Joy Fold card for you! It is a simple and quick fancy or fun fold card that is quite impressive for the receiver but so easy to make!

I have actually used 3 stamp sets to create this card as I realised that I really didn't have exactly what I needed to make a male birthday card for my daughter's boyfriend so I mixed a matched from ones that I had to create this  card for him.

I started with a piece of Country Lace DSP which is in Smoky Slate and I used my blending brush to add some Balmy Blue. As you can see by each photo you really do add quite a bit of colour even if you don't think you are!

The card recipient likes waterfalls and nature so I thought great I would try and make a birthday card out of the Quiet Reflections.  The card base is in Balmy Blue and are 2 pieces folded in half. The larger piece you cut a small portion off to create the fold. I have then layered with Blueberry Bushel card stock before layering the Country Lace DSP .

On the front piece I have stamped on Basic White the larger refection scene in Basic Gray and then with a sponge dauber, and some Garden Green ink added some green to the trees, after I had added some Balmy Blue to the whole card that was left on my blending brush.

On the inside I have stamped the other image and given the same treatment to the image and card. From this point you could make the card a Sympathy card or anything you would like.

To finish the card to make it a birthday card I have stamped the leaf  image from the Thoughtful wishes stamp and colour it with the Light and Dark Old Olive Stampin Blends and cut it out with the Thoughtful Wishes Dies. While I had the dies out I cut out a branch in Basic Beige and the 2 flowers in Calypso Coral and Fresh Freesia and adhered them to the side of the front before doing a double bow in white bakers twine. The sentiment is from Thoughtful Wishes and I have cut it out with the Stylish Shapes dies.

On the inside of the card I stamped Happy Birthday from the Country Birdhouse stamp set. I had already adhered the card down  as to show you that you could make the card for any situation before I stamped the Happy Birthday in Balmy Blue!

Did you pick up on one more detail on the card? I put the Balmy Blue Blended Country Lace DSP through the Cut & Emboss Machine with the Eyelet 3D embossing folder!
