Colour Creations Blog Hop - 20223-2024 - Week 13 - Blackberry Bliss

Rhapsody in craft, #rhapsodyincraft, #colourcreationsbloghop, Blackberry Bliss, Birthday Card, Fancy Fold, Slide and Lock Fancy Fold, Water Colour, Quiet Meadow, Quiet Meadow Dies, Something Fancy, Countryside Corner Dies, Stargazer DSP, Shimmer Paper, #loveitchopit, Stampin' Up!, Art With Heart,

Welcome to week 13 of the 2023-24 colour creations blog hop. This week we are look at my favourite colour Blackberry Bliss!

Now the team have told me that they expect big things from me so no pressure there at all!

So I thought I would try a slide and lock card as I have never tried one of those before! It is a gatefold card with a different locking mechanism. I quite like this one!

So let's look at the base of the card. and the slide and lock mechanism before we look at the decoration.

I cut the A4 piece of Blackberry Bliss card to 20.5 cm by 14.9 and then scored and burnished in from each side 5 cm to make the gate fold

The slide and locking mechanism I cut 4 pieces of Blackberry Bliss card exactly the same at 9 x 9 cm. I then folded 2 in half and used the Tear 'N' Tape to adhere them to the other two pieced of card to create the mechanism.

Once you have folded the 2 pieces and put the tear 'n' tape or strong adhesive adhere the 4 pieces together.

This is one side on and then you put the other on creating 2 grooves in your card that you slide onto the front of your gate fold.

So what did I do to decorate my card. Well here is my colour combination for you.

Rhapsody in craft, #rhapsodyincraft, #colourcreationsbloghopBlackberry Bliss Colour Combination Stampin' Up!
Well you are saying I am sure that is a crazy amount of colours to go with Blackberry bliss. I would agree but I have channelled my good friend Andrea Sargent and brought out the Fluid 100 Warercolor Paper and gone to town! Here is my card then I will walk you through my process.
Rhapsody in craft, #rhapsodyincraft, #colourcreationsbloghop, Blackberry Bliss, Birthday Card, Fancy Fold, Slide and Lock Fancy Fold, Water Colour, Quiet Meadow, Quiet Meadow Dies, Something Fancy, Countryside Corner Dies, Stargazer DSP, Shimmer Paper, #loveitchopit, Stampin' Up!, Art With Heart,
So I took the Stargazing DSP and put that on the 2 fold of the gate fold card base and then started some water colouring.

I coloured part in Blackberry bliss and some in Berry Burst and then with the larger flower from the Quiet meadow stamp set I  heat embossed in white and on the non coloured side I heat embossed in white the sprig of flowers and then water coloured in Blackberry Bliss, Lemon Lolly and Lost Lagoon.

Then I thought I would cut out the Meadow dies in the 100 Fluid Watercolor Paper and water colour those in the same colours but this time I added Pretty Peacock on the butterfly and a sprig of Crumb cake.
Using the Countryside corner dies I cut out another piece of water colour paper and washed that in Boho Blue to give me a background for the flower bouquet. Well Now came the time to work out what would work and what wouldn't.
I stamped the words from the Quiet meadow stamp in Smokey slate and then the dots in Blackberry bliss after stamping off once and backed it in the Soft Shimmer Bubble Bath paper and a layer of Blackberry Bliss. I attached that to my slide and lock mechanism.
It fit almost perfect you just had to cut off the little angle at the corners! Wonderful I would say as I didn't actually work out the measurements before hand! PHEW!

So then I threw, no I placed all the flowers and butterflies on the front of the card to see which would work and in the end I loved the more subtle watercolour washed die cut elements so they won out on their own. To finish off I added White Bakers twine from the essentials pack that I had coloured with the Dark Blackberry bliss Blends pen. You may even notice a couple of brushed metallic butterflies as you need bling. Oh the happy birthday is from Something Fancy stamp set and I cut that out using the Countryside Corner dies too!

On the inside I had to pop the other little butterfly!

Here is a video of how the card opens and closes.

Colour Creations Blog Hop - Week 16 - Crushed Curry

Welcome to week 16 of the 2022-23 Colour Creations Blog Hop. This week we are looking at a golden yellow called Crushed Curry.
Crushed Curry, Stampin' Up!
Ok so Crushed Curry isn't my favourite of all the colours as I am still traumatised from cutting 1000 crowns out in this colour a few years back but it is a great colour for crowns if you want to use it for that. I know I really need to get over it as it really is a great yellow! My card today I have used a flower that could be like a crown so this is my homage to all those crowns! 😂

So for my card this week I have used a card sketch by Dawn at Dawn Stampin' Thoughts. She has over 200 card sketches and you can use them to give you a place to start off from.
Dawn Stampin' Thoughts, Rhapsody in craft, #colourcreationsbloghop, Crushed Curry
I was asked by my daughter to make a card for a co-worker who was leaving and I was asked to do it in Crushed Curry, she was on placement and hit it off with my daughter so we wanted to give her a card when she left. I used this sketch as a starting point.

Rhapsody in craft, #rhapsodyincraft,#colourcreationsbloghop, Crushed Curry, Quiet Meadow, Tea Boutique, Tea Boutique DSP, Cup of tea, Quiet Meadow Dies, Card Sketch, Timeworn Type 3d Embossing Folder, Stitched shapes dies, Layering circle dies,#loveitchopit, Art with Heart, Stampin' Up!

So I used 2 of my favourite stamp set for this card. I am really enjoying the addition of the Cup of Tea stamp set and dies to my collection of products! For this card I have a base of Basic cray that has then been layered with Crushed Curry and Basic White!

You may have noticed that I have turned the sketch to be vertical and moved the sentiment circle. I like using the sketch as a starting off point and then seeing how I can fit it with how I need the card to go!

On a piece of the Tea Boutique DSP which just so happens to be Crushed Curry I stamped the words from the Quiet Meadow stamp set in Crushed Curry all the way down the DSP.
And just because that wasn't enough texture I put it through the Cut & emboss machine in the Timeworn Type 3D embossing folder. I just love the texture this folder gives.

I must have been trying a different camera angle here not sure it works, but hey, I don't have the card anymore! LOL! The DSP was then adhered to the top section of the card and then another gorgeous piece of the Tea Boutique DPS was backed with Basic Gray and adhered just below. For the flower panel I have Basic Gray and Smokey Slate and I have used the Meadow Dies and cut the flower out in Mossy Meadow, Crushed Curry and So Saffron and layered them together with a slight shadow and a bakers twine bow and some black matt dot bling

Then sentiment is taken from the Cup of Tea stamp set and is just perfect. I have stamped that in Basic Gray and cut it out with the Stylish Shapes dies and backed it with a Crushed Curry Scalloped circle from the layering circle dies.

I am really loving working with and stamping on DSP this year and our DSP's are just gorgeous. So I hope you can take some time this week to take care of yourself!

Week 46 - Colour Creations Blog Hop - Soft Suede

Well this is the final colour creation for this year as our new catalogue is coming out next week! We will have 5 new InColors and that is always exciting to play with new colours!

For this week I have made a thinking of you card that could be used for a get well card or even for a sympathy card. A dear friend this week lost their young daughter in her early 20's and with my children all about the same age it just hits very close to home. So hold your children and your loved ones so close my friends.

Rhapsody in craft, Soft Suede, Quiet Meadow, Bamboo Beauty, Thinking of you card, Get Well Card, Sympathy Card, Meadow Dies, Symbols of Fortune DSP, Label Me Fancy Punch,Stampin' Up!, #colourcreationsbloghop, #rhapsodyincraft

I thought the sentiment from the Bamboo Stamp set was perfect for a get well card or a sympathy card and I do have a couple of close friends that are also unwell this week with Covid so they may just get this card too. I stamped many of the flowers from Quiet Meadow thinking I would add more but now I have them ready to go so I can make a few more cards.

I have done all the stamping on this card in the colour of the week Soft Suede and the flowers I have coloured with the stamping blends. I chose Flirty flamingo both light and dark and then Soft Succulent both light and dark for the green and a little dark So Saffron for the centre of the flowers. On the background I have used Crumb Cake Card but stamped in Soft Suede using the script, dots and little flower stamp from the Quiet Meadow stamp set then I ran it through the Splatters 3D embossing folder and with the sponge dauber I added some more soft suede around the edge and roughed it up with my paper snips to give it that old fashioned grunge look.

I have layered my fussy cut flowers (I am really into fussy cutting at the moment) with some gold shimmer ribbon and a few soft suede twigs from the Meadow dies under the sentiment punched out with the label me fancy punch and then put through the Splatters 3D embossing folder with a little bit of soft suede on the embossing folder. Of course flowers needed a bow and the linen thread was perfect. All of this is layered on the Symbol of Fortune DSP on Soft Suede card.

Don't forget to decorate the inside of your card which I have done with some more of that gorgeous Symbols of Fortune DSP and another fussy cut flower.

Week 14 - Colour Creations Blog Hop - Crushed Curry

Welcome to this week of colour challenge and creativity. Crushed Curry is the colour up in the spotlight for Week 14 of Colour Creations Blog Hop.

Ok I need to confess that it is not my favourite colour as I had to make 1000 crowns in this colour a few years ago and I think the time it took to make that many crowns ......I just run from this colour but it really is a lovely colour for crowns if you ever need one!

Today I have a simple stamping card for you. I have used one of my favourite stamp sets from the Annual catalogue Quiet Meadow.

Rhapsody in craft, Crushed Curry, Quiet Meadow, Quiet Meadow Bundle, Quiet Meadow Dies, Thinking of you, Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder, Blending Brushes, Painted Label Dies, Stampin' Up!, #colourcreationsbloghop

For this card today I have used the blending brushes to blend a panel of Basic White card with Crushed Curry ink getting gradually darker until the bottom being the darkest. I then used the Painted Label Dies and cut out the panel. First one end and not putting the panel all the way through and then the other end also not putting it all the way through the Cut & Emboss machine so that I didn't cut the panel in half. It is a great way of extending your labels. I then used Memento black ink to stamp the flower onto the panel.

Rhapsody in craft, Crushed Curry, Quiet Meadow, Quiet Meadow Bundle, Quiet Meadow Dies, Thinking of you, Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder, Blending Brushes, Painted Label Dies, Stampin' Up!, #colourcreationsbloghop

I stamped the Thinking of you sentiment on Basic White in Memento ink and used the Quiet meadow Dies to cut it our then using the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder I put it and the layer behind the crushed curry and stamped panel through the Cut & Emboss machine. I popped the sentiment up on some dimensionals and finished the card off with 3 matt black dots. A clean and simple card for you today. I am loving this new Timeworn Type Embossing folder that is in the July-December Mini don't hesitate to get one soon.

If you have any questions about today's project of any of your crafting needs please do not hesitate to contact me.

Now is the time to head to the next blog on our journey in Crushed Curry creativity and Christine Blain is next. I love seeing all the wonderful layers and details that she creates in her gorgeous cards so I can't wait to see what she has for us this week. Last week for Crumb Cake there was so much wonderful texture I looked at her card for a long time. Just hit the next blog button to go straight there.

Week 12 - Colour Creations Blog Hop - Coastal Cabana

Coastal Cabana, I love this colour.

That was a bold statement. I know it is not Blackberry Bliss which is my absolute favourite colour but I do love this colour and I am so glad that it is one of Stampin' Up! regular colours. It used to be my daughter's favourite colour. Now as she has gotten older she has decided that she likes more maroony purple colours! Now Blackberry bliss or Rich Razzleberry would go really well with Coastal Cabana I went for a very simple palette. Mind you that song kept coming to mind EVERY TIME I say this colour! You know the one! Come on sing it will me Copa, Copacabana! You are welcome! You will have that stuck in your head for the rest of the hop now!

Rhapsody in craft, Coastal Cabana, Thinking of you cards, Thinking of you, Quiet Meadow Bundle, Quiet Meadow Dies, Quiet Meadow, Timeworn Type 3DEF, Blackberry Beauty Ephemera Pack, #colourcreationsbloghop, Stampin' Up

I know you are ready for my card but you can dance and sing to Barry Manilow while you look at my card. I have used one of my favourite bundles from the Annual Catalogue and just had to have flowers.
Rhapsody in craft, Coastal Cabana, Thinking of you cards, Thinking of you, Quiet Meadow Bundle, Quiet Meadow Dies, Quiet Meadow, Timeworn Type 3DEF, Blackberry Beauty Ephemera Pack, #colourcreationsbloghop, Stampin' Up

For my card I wanted to create a lot of texture so I took out a piece of Basic White card and stamped the broken word stamp down the page. I used the Stamparatus and started at the top then moved it down one hinge and the card down 1 little square on the small grid paper that fits in the Stamparatus. A full movement down with the hinge was just a bit too much of a gap between each stamping for me. I stamped this in Early Espresso in to correspond with my card base. Then the fun begins. I used a New embossing folder from the New Mini catalogue called Timeworn Type 3DEF. Oh I love it. As you can see it doesn't look white. I first swiped my crumb cake ink over the intended side of the embossing folder so that the raised letters and worn out parts would come out white still. Almost like I had stained the paper with a tea bag.

Rhapsody in craft, Coastal Cabana, Thinking of you cards, Thinking of you, Quiet Meadow Bundle, Quiet Meadow Dies, Quiet Meadow, Timeworn Type 3DEF, Blackberry Beauty Ephemera Pack, #colourcreationsbloghop, Stampin' Up

I did the same thing to the sentiment which I stamped first in Early Espresso, cut out with the die from the Meadow Dies and then ran it through the Timeworn Type embossing folder with crumb cake ink.

Rhapsody in craft, Coastal Cabana, Thinking of you cards, Thinking of you, Quiet Meadow Bundle, Quiet Meadow Dies, Quiet Meadow, Timeworn Type 3DEF, Blackberry Beauty Ephemera Pack, #colourcreationsbloghop, Stampin' Up
Under the flowers onto the card I have stamped the flowers over the embossing in crumb cake to give a little more texture looking and then I have started to layer my flower arrangement. The leaves are cut from Soft Sea Foam card which I thought was quite fitting as we are using Coastal Cabana! The Crumb Cake stalks are but from the Christmas DSP Tidings of Christmas as they have the lovely print of plants on that side so just adding that little bit extra element. The gold is from the Blackberry Beauty Ephemera Pack. (Ok almost had Blackberry bliss in there hehe!) and I have some linen thread behind my flowers as well.

Rhapsody in craft, Coastal Cabana, Thinking of you cards, Thinking of you, Quiet Meadow Bundle, Quiet Meadow Dies, Quiet Meadow, Timeworn Type 3DEF, Blackberry Beauty Ephemera Pack, #colourcreationsbloghop, Stampin' Up

As on the front of my card I have on the inside coloured my flowers with the blender pen as we don't have Stampin' Blends in Coastal Cabana. The centre of the flower is however dark So Saffron Stampin' Blends. On the front you may be wondering what I have used in the centre of the flowers? Well I am glad you asked. They are the new gorgeous brushed metallic dots from the New July-Dec Mini that come in Gold, Brass and Copper. They look so good you will want a pack of these.

Rhapsody in craft, Coastal Cabana, Thinking of you cards, Thinking of you, Quiet Meadow Bundle, Quiet Meadow Dies, Quiet Meadow, Timeworn Type 3DEF, Blackberry Beauty Ephemera Pack, #colourcreationsbloghop, Stampin' Up

Well my internet keeps dropping in and out so I had better stop and let you go so that you actually have a post to read and that it actually goes live when it is supposed to. If you have any questions about my card do not hesitate to contact me.

Now is the time to head to the next blog and this week you will be heading to the lovely Theresa Gerrard's blog. Last week Theresa's Cinnamon Cider card with the Nature's Harvest Bundle was gorgeous.
