Stampin' Up - Art With Heart Team Blog Hop February 2020- Masculine Themed Cards

Welcome to another Creative Showcase with the Art With Heart Team.

This month we are featuring Masculine themes projects. We have many masculine themed products in the Stampin' Up! range including stamp sets and coordinating dies, designer series papers, embellishments and embossing folders. Art with Hear team have a wonderful selection of projects to inspire you to create Masculine Masterpieces.

Tonight I have 3 cards for you. I have had a wood theme going through my head for some reason so this is what I have come up with.

Ok the first card is not wood related but it is a dirt bike and you can ride that through the trees and forest, so you will just have to use your imagination and join me in my fantasy land.

Pedal to the Metal, Male Cards, Birthday Card, Stone 3D, Motorbike, Rhapsody in craft, Stampin' Up, #loveitchopit

For this first card I have used Pedal to the Metal. What a fun stamp set this is. To be quite frank if I coloured the bike purple and removed the sentiment To a great Guy my niece would love this as she rides dirt bikes!

I have used the gorgeous crumb cake as it is one of our all time favourite colours for card bases and used the stitched nested labels dies for different details under the bike. But if you look closely I have also used the Stone 3D Embossing folder that is part of the Power of Hope bundle in the Sale-a-bration brochure.

For the tire marks behind the bike I have used crumb cake but I have stamped off once before stamping on the dark lines and then stamped again for the light lines. Then I stamped the bike in soft suede before colouring in with the Stampin' Blends. The hessian DSP is from the Pressed Petal Specialty DPS and the script DSP is from the Neutrals 6x6 pack. I have die cut out Birthday Wishes from the Well Written Dies in Champagne Foil card stock. The added bling is from the Peaceful Poppies sequins.

My second card is a simple card sticking with the wood theme. I have used the DSP from the Pressed Petal DSP that is woodgrain and the hessian again and have cut 1 inch or 2.5 cm strips and adhered them to a piece of very vanilla card stock on the diagonal. I just trimmed the excess and mounted it on to a layer of champagne foil card stock as men deserve some bling in their life too. I added the  braided burlap trim and then let it sit for a few days before I thought about what sentiment to put on the card. I think thank you cards for making a difference is a great sentiment so I just love this stamp set By the Dock.

I have stamped the sentiment on very vanilla and cut it out with the stitched nested labels dies and cut another in mossy meadow to match the base card and one more in champagne foil add a bit of depth and interest to this simple card. I also used some metallic pearls to add a little more bling.

Rooted in Nature, Male Cards, Masculine Cards, Thank you cards, Thank You, Stampin' Up!, Rhapsodyincraft

Sticking with my wood theme I used Rooted in Nature for my third card. I have stayed with crumb cake as our favourite card base and but this time I have added a layer of the the cut tree stump. To make this back ground I have inked the stump in soft suede and then before it dried I have clear heat embossed to add a little bit of sparkle to the stumps.

I have used the braided burlap twine again across the bottom and the braided linen thread. It might remind some older gentlemen of the little braids that they had in the back of their hair/mullets back in the 1980's. Ok I digress! hehe!

I stamped the tree which is just divine being a distinctive stamp and cut it out with the Nature's Roots dies. I love not having to fussy cut, how about you? I stamped the leaves in blackberry bliss once for the dark and then again for the lighter and the same in mossy meadow for the green. I die cut the champagne foil leaves out before putting them back through with the impression die to get the veins.  The little bit of green thread that you can see along with the braided linen thread is from the country club twine pack. I have stamped the 2 line sentiments from Rooted in Nature for the front of this card but have cut one up to add to the front of the tree. I kind of like doing this occasionally.

Ok so there are my three cards and I thought that would be enough but then today I thought sure I have enough time to just pull out another card. Well you will be happy to know it has nothing to do with the  wood grain theme.

Best Catch, Male Cards, Masculine cards, Stampin' Up!. Rhapsodyincraft, #loveitchopit

I love this stamp set. I got it because my Dad loves to fish. So does my Brother but when my Mum and Dad go fishing my Mum catches all the fish. If Dad goes on his own he doesn't catch anything. My Mum is awesome let's face it!

So this is an origami framed window card and I found this on Cindy Brumbaugh blog to find out how to fold the little window. I thought it would work perfectly for this cute fish.

I have again used the Neutrals 6x6 DSP and cut it into a 4x4 piece to fold and for the bull rushes I have die cut them out of mossy meadow card stock and Lily Impressions DSP from the Sale-a-bration brochure. I have stamped the sentiment on Merry Merlot and punched it out with the Label me fancy punch.

The fish is coloured in a combination of dark old olive, dark soft sea foam, dark granny apple green and light calypso coral Stampin' Blends. It has been a long time since I have been fishing but I think they look a little like that.  I have also stamped the fisherman and die cut him out and decided not to put him on the front so put him on the inside to decorate the inside of the card.

Please now head on over to the next demonstrator to share their Masculine project with you , my friend the very talented Tina Gillespie

Sharon your cards are all amazing but there is such an elegant simplicity to your second card that makes it the standout for me xx

Such great cards Sharon. I really love that elegant wood one - didn't realise that paper had some of the woodgrain in it. Great tip. Looks so good with the twine/ribbon.

Thank you Cathy, I really like that second card too! xx

My Mum is just brilliant at catching the biggest fish or the only fish we laugh all the time. Poor Dad! I was really happy with how the nested frames came out!

Thanks Andrea I thought the wood theme would be a good idea and my brother works at a timber mill making frames and parts for houses and my Mum is the best at helping Dad catch fish.

Thanks Sue, I know that DSP is so gorgeous with all the flowers we forget that it has the wood and hessian on the back. I love the braided options that we have at the moment they are great in the twine and linen threads

Oh my goodness Sharon - 4 fantastic cards. I love them all! Great masculine look to them all, although I suspect that the colour in the last card could easily suit a female angler. Oh, and GO Sharon's mum! x
