Welcome to my happy place.

Hi,

Welcome to my blog. Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope that you will find some inspiration for your projects as I have from many lovely people. This is just a little space for me to share some of my cards, scrap book pages and maybe even some of my embroidery and quilting projects.

Enjoy and stop back often.

Welcome to the last month of the Heart of Christmas blog hop for 2024. We have 4 more including tonight with the last one of this year being on November the 25th, I hope you will stick with us right to the end.

Today I thought I would do something a little different and something I haven't done for a while and that is decorate a couple of candles.

For my project today I have continued with my favourite colour scheme for this year of Crumb Cake, Lost Lagoon, Pretty Peacock and Ivory.

To start with I gathered all my goodies which included white tissue paper, a candle and the Stampin' Up! heat tool. I still have one of the older versions and if you have the newer versions with the 2 settings of cooler and then a little hotter on the heat tool that would be perfect for this type of project.

As you can see from all the goodies I gathered I thought that perhaps I would stamp the Shepherd in Memento black so that it didn't look too muted when it was applied to the candle. When I stamped the image on to the tissue paper I thought it was a bit over the TOP and in your face too strong so I reverted back to Basic Grey! I was a lot happier with that.

I stamped the star in Crushed Curry and then a few more stars using the dot stamp in crushed curry. For the back of the candle I took another piece of tissue paper and stamped the Town Of David and the sentiment in Early Espresso.

Before adhering the image to the candle I coloured the shepherd and the sheep on the back with the Stampin' Blends. Going over a couple of times once they were dry to give a good depth of colour. I also cut close to the image as you don't need a lot of tissue paper around the edge of the image.

Now I still have in my drawer of all papers some wax paper so I was able to hold a piece of wax paper over the image that I was trying to adhere but you can use baking paper to hold the imaged tight and smoothly to the candle. Then using the Stampin' Up! Heat tool you slowly and gently heat the wax of the candle to bleed through the tissue paper and adhere the image to the candle. I have done 2 candles for you so you can see both the front and the back at the same time.

Well that was fun I do hope you give candle decorating a try!
Let me know if you have any questions.

I love that we can use our papercraft products to decorate candles - how cool is it?! I haven't done this for years, so it's lovely to be reminded of the technique. Your decision to stamp the image in Basic Gray ink was a good one; it has transferred beautifully. Lovely project, Sharon.

Oh Sharon, your candles are amazing. I love them. Not having decorated candles myself, I read your steps closely and will have to give it a go. Thank you for the inspiration. xxx

Sharon, these candles look amazing and a great reminder of a technique I have not used in many years. This image is fantastic in Basic Grey and I did giggle at you using Crushed Curry for the star!!!
