Heart Of Christmas - October 2020

Welcome to the Heart of Christmas Showcase for October. I can't believe we are just a couple of months away! Can you? So tonight the Art with Heart team will bring you a little inspiration for your Christmas cards and decorations to help you get ready for a wonderful season!

Have you ever had one of those weeks that everything went wrong. Yep! I had my phone die and my credit card number stolen some how we can't quite work out how yet on top of a migraine so I only have one card for you tonight! I also had to do a recording of a song so I was a fraction caught up. I had to record both the vocal and the clarinet part so 1 card it is tonight so I went for the Poinsettia and my favourite colour!

Here is my colour palette for tonight!

I know what you are thinking. A Quick card with the Poinsettia! That is not a quick card.

Rhapsody in craft, Poinsettia Petals, Lovely Labels Pick a punch, Christmas Card, #heartofchristmas2020, #loveitchopit, Stampin' Up Aug-Dec Mini 2020

Well yes it is and this is why. Get the gorgeous Poinsettia Place Designer Series Paper which is on 15% off at the moment and use your Dies that you got in the Bundle with the Stamp set because you love to save and get the 10% discount when you bundle to stamp set and dies together and this card is a breeze!

So that gorgeous white poinsettia is from the Poinsettia Place DSP and I cut the 2 top flowers out with the dies and the bottom 2 I fussy cut from the edge of the paper. The leave and sprigs one run through with the dies and you are done! Layer it all up on the Plush Poinsettia Specialty Paper and you are good to go. Add a bit of bling with the silver edged ribbon stamp Merry Christmas from the Poinsettia Petals Stamp set in Blackberry Bliss, my favourite colour use the Lovely Labels pick a punch and you are done my friend.

Rhapsody in craft, Poinsettia Petals, Lovely Labels Pick a punch, Christmas Card, #heartofchristmas2020, #loveitchopit, Stampin' Up Aug-Dec Mini 2020

Don't forget to decorate the inside of your card as well.

As you can see I have added a thin strip of the Poinsettia Place DSP to the inside of the card and as you always have little strips left over why not use them on the inside of your cards.

Week 20 - Colour Creations Showcase - " Gray Granite"

Well today is a gorgeous sunny spring day in Melbourne, Australia. I hope you have been able to get out and enjoy some sunshine if you are in lockdown like we are and have some gorgeous sunshine. I have a bit of a migraine today so the sunshine although lovely is not great on my eyes. I only mention that as you will see when you see my card that I dropped my stamp on my finished card as I went to clean it. I didn't have the strength to remake it so just ignore the splodge! 😂😢

This week Gray Granite!

I have kept my palette very simple and clean today trying to practice for our monthly creative showcase where we will be using only 5 products. I am not know for using a few number of products. My colours were Gray Granite, Mint Macaron and Whisper White.

I chose to use Mint Macaron with the Gray Granite because I had finally after a couple of years looking at the Very Versailles stamp set, bit the bullet and bought it! I do that, do you? Look at things you love and then leave it too long and they aren't there anymore. Well I thought NO! I am not going to do that with this stamp set I am going to get it.

rhapsodyincraft, gray granite, very versailles, mint macaron, friendship card, stampin up 2020-21 annual catalogue

So as you can see with just this stamp set a couple of different coloured pieces of card stock and the matching ink you can make a very pretty card. I don't know why I waited so long to get this stamp set.

So with the Gray Granite card base I added an extra layer and popped that up on dimensionals and if you have limited supplies this is a great way to add interest and dimension to your cards. Normally I use very thing borders on my matting but as I was using only 2 or 3 colours I made the matt wider to highlight the colour.

I stamped the images in gray granite on the whisper white card stock first then the leaves in  mint macaron before wrapping the braided linen trim around the card and adhering to the card base. I stamped the sentiment in Mint Macaron and cut it out with the Stitched Shapes dies and popped it up on some dimensionals as well. I had to add some bling and for this stamp set that is quite the vintage look the elegant faceted gems were just the thing.

You can see that having this stamp set is one you should invest in for quick easy collage type cards and make sure you move your card away from your stamps when you are cleaning them so you don't drop them onto your finished project! Just a little hint from me!

If you have any questions about todays project or if you would like to purchase the products to make this quick and easy project do not hesitate to contact me.

Ok my friends the fun doesn't stop here please head on over to the lovely Cathy's blog the host of our Colour Creations Showcase to find the list of the very creative ladies taking part in this weeks colour of Gray Granite: Cathy' Blog

AWHT - Creative Showcase October 2020 - All thing Designer Series Paper

Tonight we are doing all things Designer Series Paper. Are you like me? Or like I used to be. I would see all the pretty paper and just had to have it but not cut it up and use it! Well no longer! I am using it and it makes gorgeous projects because let's face it, it is SOOOOO pretty! Plus when you finish a packet of that gorgeous paper you can just buy another one and this month October is the perfect month to stock up on your favourite as Stampin' Up! has 15% off select DSP, so don't miss out on this special!

Now on to my projects. I did a few on the weekend using DSP and I had fun doing them for World Card Making Day!

I started with the Love of Leaves Bundle and the Plaid Tidings DSP. I did a bit of sleuthing on the old Pinterest and I found this gorgeous design by Mary Fish and it is so quick and easy that I had to share it with you as you will love it. My support worker was here today and she loved it so much she took my Bumblebee one so I had to make 2 more for you for tonight.

How cool are these. So I started with the Plaid Tidings and because my daughter's support worker took my bumblebee Plaid Tidings I thought I should make a couple more.

They are so easy to make with the Love of Leaves Bundle. Thick Whisper White Base, a layer of DSP of your choice at 10 x 14.4 cm then a layer of Whisper White card at 13.5 x 9 cm and die cut out your leaf with the embossing of the leaf at the same time. Pop that layer up on dimensionals as well as your leaf. Tie a little bit of linen thread and stamp the word Hello from the Love of Leaves stamp set and you are good to go and so quick to make so many card.

While I was on my Plaid tidings and Love of Leaves trend on World Card Making Day I used the 6x6 One Sheet Wonder that Claire Daly put up in our team group a few weeks ago and it is so fast to make cards. Just cut the DSP, cut your sentiment card or die cut it and then put it in your Stamparatus to make multiples and go for it.

This was the way I cut the DSP. Thanks Claire!

I made the Pretty Peacock ones first and decided that I would make the sentiment card slightly smaller on the landscape card for my Blackberry bliss cards. Lots of fun and so quick and a little bit of bling with the Silver Metallic edge ribbon.

So for my next effort on World card making day I made some cards using the colours Smokey Slate and Blackberry bliss with the In Good Taste DSP.

I was watching a video by Ronda Wade and really liked the combination and how she stamped on the DSP so I thought I would give it a try.

I really love the effect of stamping on the In Good Taste DSP it is just beautiful. So for the second card to stamp on the DSP we just turned the colours around.

It is beautiful on this whitewash paint textured DSP and the effect it gives the image. I will be doing more of these.

While I was on this colour combinations I made a fancy fold as I can't go past a fancy fold and did a quick z-fold card with Dandelion wishes and Peony Garden DSP.

I also played with some Christmas DSP and stamp options on the weekend and back to Plaid Tidings and the Nativity Dies.
rhapsodyincraft, nativity dies, for unto us, plaid tidings, Christmas cards

I just love this and I think I will have to take advantage of the 15% off on Plaid Tidings so I can make more of these for Christmas.

Snowflake Splendor DSP is also on sale and I saw this on Pinterest and had to have a go at it. I love Christmas and I thought this was fantastic!
For unto Us, Christmas, Hark the Herald, Rhapsodyincraft

The snowflakes are on the other side but look at this night sky. How cool is this. I Stamped the sentiment from For unto Us stamp set in Night of Navy and cut out the Stars in Silver with the Stitched stars dies. The sentiment is cut out using the Stitched so sweetly dies and the slits for the pool party sheer ribbon is made by the Label Me fancy Punch.

I was having too much fun so I made one more card using some scrapbook layering on a card with the Wonder of the Season DSP and the Heartwarming Hugs DSP.

For Unto Us, Rhapsody in craft, Christmas

I really had a lot of fun on the weekend for World Card Making day trying out all the fun ways to use up my DSP and different techniques and just enjoy making cards. Don't miss the opportunity this month to stock up and save so that you can make some quick and easy cards yourself.

Please head over to Rachel's blog for the list of very creative ladies to see how they have used our gorgeous DSP today. I can't wait!

Thank you for spending some crafty time with me today.
