Week 29 - Colour Creations Showcase - "Mossy Meadow"

Well it is nearly Christmas and that means this is the last Colour Creations Showcase just for a couple of weeks while we have a little break and have Christmas and New Year's festivities! Are you looking forward to them? This year I am sure they look a little different or a little at least to how you would normally spend them.

However before all of that we have 1 more week of Colour Creations Showcase and then we will be back on January 6th so don't forget to come on back then for the second half of the Stampin' Up! Colours.

This week  Mossy Meadow!

I  have 1 more Christmas Card inspiration using product that you can still purchase in the Giant End of Year Sale when I made this card so be quick and get on to these stamp sets and bundle.
Rhapsody in craft, Peaceful Nativity, Peaceful Nativity Bundle, Nativity Dies, For Unto Us, Old World Paper 3D Embossing Folder, Stable Door, Christmas Card, Brushed Metallic Cardstock, Salvation Army International Staff Band, Stampin' Up, stampinup, Aug-Dec Mini 2020, #colourcreationsshowcase

My parents were the inspiration for this card. We have a carol in our church that is one of my Dad's favourites and we don't sing it very often but I thought I would make this card for them and remind them of this carol. I have added the words at the end of the post so you can read them and a YouTube link to listen to a verse of the music if you would like to. The carol is called Stable Door!

For this card I started with stamping the the stable in crumb Cake on the wood grain Crumb Cake Neutral DSP and although I really liked the effect when I cut it out with the Nativity Dies. I  thought it was a bit busy for the card and that it needed to be a bit simpler. So I got out the Brushed Metallic card and settled on this gorgeous brass and cut it out and it looks so gorgeous over the Old World 3D embossing of the Mossy Meadow Card Stock.

I love how the dies have embossed the wood grain on the stable. I have adhered the stable and the palm trees and star with Tombow Multipurpose glue onto the embossed Mossy Meadow Card. A little trick is to let it dry a little and get tacky before adhering it to the card front so that you don't have glue running out from under you dies. Alternatively you can adhere the adhesive sheets first before putting the dies through the Cut & Emboss machine.

On the front I used the sentiment from the stamp set For Unto Us and stamped that in Mossy Meadow on Very Vanilla Card stock and backed it with the Brushed metallic card. On the inside of the card I have again used Very vanilla and have used the dies again with Brass Brushed Metallic Card and stamped the Sentiments from the Peaceful Nativity stamp set.

I think Mum and Dad will like their card and I might just have to make a couple more now that I have this design as it is very quick and very effective.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and see you in January for some more fun with our Colour Creations Showcase.

Here are the words and video to the carol Stable Door

Open wide the stable door,
Monarchs rich and shepherds poor
Wait to tread the holy floor
Where lies the Son of God.

See, they bring Him gifts of gold,
Tender lambs from Judah's fold,
As with awe their eyes behold
The infant Son of God.

I am not a wealthy King,
Naught have I for offering.
E'en a lamb I cannot bring
To give Thee, Son of God.

Yet I would be at Thy side
And the door is open wide!
What can empty hands provide,
Oh, what, Thou Son of God?

Not without can I remain,
Not my heart's deep urge restrain,
Trembling 'neath my love and pain,
I come, dear Son of God.

Now I bow me at Thy stall,
Giftless, yet I give Thee all;
Thou art the Lord, and I am thrall
To Thee, O Son of God!

AWHT - Creative Showcase - December 2020 - Theme: "All Things Summer"

What does summer mean to you? That is our theme this month for the Art with Heart Creative Showcase. Well my husband and I have been doing a bit of laughing at a Facebook group called "We Grew Up in Australia in the '70's & '80's" and all the things that have been popping up on that group, such as Get Smart's Cone of Silence and then we would turn to each other and say "You know what was better than the Cone of Silence?" "The Portable Cone of Silence". Of course as we both said it at the same time we were cracking up. Silly things like that and what we got to order if our school had special lunch orders. So for my card today I have decided to reminisce about fishing as a family!

My Dad worked night's delivering milk and then on the weekends when the tide was just right we would go down the River Tamar to Beauty Point and all 6 of us would get on the little boat we had and try to catch just enough flat head and maybe some cocky salmon if we were lucky for a really good feed!

I have made a birthday card for you as today is my Eldest Brother's birthday and he still goes fishing and camping as much as he can when he isn't working and I thought he would love this card.

I have made this card by using the new blending brushes that will be available in the up coming Jan-June Mini starting on January 5th. They are so lovely to work with.

For this card I have used Daffodil Delight, Bumblebee and Crumb Cake for the side of the river and sandy embankment and for the water and sky I have used Balmy Blue and Seaside Spray.

I first cut a 10cm x 14.4 cm piece of Whisper White card stock and put down a layer of Daffodil delight with a slight bend for the embankment. I then added a little bit of deeper colour just on the bottom of the card with the Bumblebee, you could also used Crushed Curry as that works well in this combination also. Then to make it look a little bit more sandy I blended a layer of crumb cake over all of the yellow. Besides we are going summer today and yellow is sun and summer! For the blue I cut out a die from the Budding Blooms dies and used it as a masking for shading some clouds in the sky and put down Seaside Spray believe it or not. Quite randomly, then I added the Balmy Blue to the middle for the water and when you blend over the sandy embankment of course you can get just that hint of green for the grasses in your stamp.

I thought the By The Dock stamp set would be perfect for this card and the sentiment I was going for with my Brother's card. Plus I had had it sitting on my shelf for a long time now and hadn't used it!!!!!😱

I have stamped the images in Basic Gray and they look very effective over the blended background. I just love the little fish at the back of the boat popping up and teasing! The white that you can see is the Stampin' Chalk Marker and I have just highlighted the water and a little bit of the dock and the birds to make them pop off the page. The card base is Early Espresso.

To finish off the card of course I had to have the sentiment and I have used the Happy Birthday stamp from the By The Dock stamp set and stamped it on Whisper white card and punch it out with the Label me Fancy punch and punched the slits for the ribbon with the same punch. I have also just trimmed it down so that it is not as big. The ribbon is the faux suede trim and the braided linen thread. I used the residual colour on the blending brush to colour the whisper white sentiment Daffodil delight.

I hope you have enjoyed my trip down memory lane for our Summer Theme today.

Week 28 - Colour Creations Showcase - "Misty Moonlight"

Tonight I am bringing to you a card inspired by a Windmill! A Windmill?! Yes, a windmill. When we lived in Minneapolis, many moons ago, my Husband had to travel to The Netherlands for work and he bought back a Delft Pottery Musical Windmill as he knows I love music boxes as I am a music teacher. So today I have made a card inspired by his visit to the Netherlands in December 1995.

This week Misty Moonlight

Misty Moonlight, Rhapsody in Craft, Bloom & Grow, Stampin' Blends, #colourcreationsshowcase, Delft Pottery, Friendship card, Stampin' Up!, 2020-21 Annual Catalogue

I have gone for a simple stamping card today and the wonderful Stampin' Blends with the added bling of the Silver Metallic-edge ribbon.

Misty Moonlight, Rhapsody in Craft, Bloom & Grow, Stampin' Blends, #colourcreationsshowcase, Delft Pottery, Friendship card, Stampin' Up!, 2020-21 Annual Catalogue

What I have done for you today is used this gorgeous Bloom and Grow stamps set and stamped multiple time on a piece of whisper white card stock the one large image and then snuck in the edge of another to fill in one little spot that I wanted to fill in with just the rose. I stamped these in Basic Gray ink.

Misty Moonlight, Rhapsody in Craft, Bloom & Grow, Stampin' Blends, #colourcreationsshowcase, Delft Pottery, Friendship card, Stampin' Up!, 2020-21 Annual Catalogue

To Colour the roses I have used the Misty Moonlight Dark and Light Stampin' Blends in contrast with Light Pool Party. The leaves and branches are coloured in light Smoky Slate. I wanted to keep them neutral to go along with my Delft Pottery theme.

Misty Moonlight, Rhapsody in Craft, Bloom & Grow, Stampin' Blends, #colourcreationsshowcase, Delft Pottery, Friendship card, Stampin' Up!, 2020-21 Annual Catalogue

I have stamped sentiment in Misty Moonlight and fussy cut this and popped it up on mini dimensionals  after adding the Silver Metallic-Edged ribbon and backing it with Misty Moonlight card stock and adhering it to a Thick Whisper White Card Base.

Colouring is such a relaxing thing to do and this is an easy card to make with limited supplies so you could take a few card fronts cut and ready to go with you  to colour when you go away on your summer holidays for those of us here in Australia or for your winter break in the the Northern hemisphere!

Week 27 = Colour Creations Showcase - "Mint Macaron"

I can't believe that we are in December already, can you? What a year it has been! I am sure all of us will look back on this year with very mixed emotions. Have you started putting up your Christmas decorations yet? I have started so that is good, but the Christmas shopping has not yet been completed but that has also started! How is your card writing going? Do you still need to make some and write in them? I still need to write in all of mine. I need to get my skates on!

Well this week we are looking at a beautiful colour Mint Macaron!

I was looking around the internet as you do and I came across a fancy fold card that I hadn't seen before and I thought I would try it tonight as you know I love a fancy fold card. It is called a Tent Fold Card. I saw it on a blog by the name of Alina on La-La-Land Crafts. You can also find the tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers. I thought well this is kind of interesting why don't I give it a try!

Rhapsody in craft, Mint Macaron, Here's a Card, Prized Peony, Peony Dies, Prized Peony Bundle, Peony Garden Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Blends, Fancy Fold, Fun Fold, Tent Card Fold, Colour Creations Show case, Stampin' Up!, 2020-21 Annual Catalogue

So today I have used the Prized Peony Stamp set and Peony Die bundle with the Peony Garden Designer Series Paper. I have also used the Rectangle Stitched Dies.

The first thing I did to make the Tent base of the card before decorating it with the peonies is to cut the mint macaron card stock in half vertically at 10.5 cm and fold in half. Then I adhered a layer of the Peony Garden DSP.

Then using the Stitched rectangle dies I opened out the card and just cut out the front of the card the rectangle.

No I have added a little hinge for the part that I have cut out at the same width. Adhere it to the back of the panel first.

This was a fun card to make and there are a couple of ways you could make it. I made it with the extra layer in the middle. You could leave it out and just adhere it straight to the back of your card.

Before adhering the insert to the back of your card it is easier to lay it back into the section that you have cut out and then close the back of the card down over the hinge so that you have it in the exact right position!

Now you will also need a piece of card 10.5 x 7 cm folded in a "W" I found it easier to fold it in half then back on itself than to think about measurements. This is where your bone folder comes in very handy. Make sure you line up the bottom of the card with the bottom of the W on both the front and the back before adhering and then you have your Tent Card Base ready to decorate!

So for my decorations I stamped the Peonies in Basic Gray ink on Whisper White card stock and cut them out using the Peony Dies then I used my Stampin' Blends in Dark and Light Mint Macaron and Petal Pink and a little Dark So Saffron. I added the single flowers on the inside flap to give that little bit of depth to the card.

I really love the Here's a Card Stamp set and I thought this was the perfect sentiment for my gorgeous friend!

As you can see I have stamped it in Basic Gray and then cut it out using the stitched rectangle dies and popped it up on some dimensionals. I have also added some Silver Metallic Edged Ribbon along with some Basic Jewel Rhinestones for that extra Bling!

Because this is such a 3D card I have added a layered some of the Peony Garden DPS and some Whisper White Card on the back of the card so that I can write a note to my friend.

Well I hope you liked this little look at a fancy, fun fold card. I certainly hadn't seen it, I must have missed it when looking for different fun folds to do and it is very easy and there are so many possibilities of designs. I hope you give one a try.

Heart of Christmas - Week 16 - 2024

Welcome to our second last heart of Christmas for 2024! I know very sad that we only have one more next week but that just means that Chri...
